FB Engine Bay Wiring Harness Routing Question

I'm in the process of swapping a 1983 wiring harness into a 1985 shell and am unsure how best to route the engine bay wiring. The FSM is not very useful in showing where the engine bay wiring harness is supposed to be routed. I made an error in that I didn't photograph the routing path of the harness, just the locations of the connectors.

When I removed the 83 harness from the donor car, I recall the harness leading to the front driver's side headlamp going under a "bridge" between the shock tower and fender, just as there is a "bridge" by the rear wheel arch for the rear harness to route through. There is no such bridge in my 85 car and my 83 car is gone. I may be misremembering.

My 85 car's wiring was butchered for a Ford 5.0 swap (thus needing total replacement), and it looks like the P.O. cut a small hole in the driver's side "side wall" (not firewall) of the engine bay behind/in back of the shock tower to tuck the portion of the harness powering the lights (and a few other things) hidden away under the fender, coming out through the front of the fender, underneath/behind the driver's headlight bucket. Tucking the wires as he did might look good, but I would need to expand this hole to push the connectors through without having to cut and splice. Because I am unsure of the stock routing, I also do not know whether tucking this part of the harness will create issues with wiring length, or attaching grounds.

Tl;dr What is the proper way to route the engine bay wiring harnesses? Is there a painless (no/minimal wire extending) way to tuck some of the wires away? Does anyone have pictures of their stock or tucked engine bay harness?

Thank you for your help and time.
