Auto Transmission Help Please! 95 Vert RC3C

I'm about to replace the automatic transmission in my 95 FC3C. I'm just going to be putting another automatic transmission in it until I get the money and parts together to do a 5spd swap and street port altogether. I just need to get her in the road for now. She's been in my garage for 2 years. I've kept the engine solid, changed the engine oil every 3 months, and cranked her up on the regular. I have a few questions. Please help me out. (Trolling is ok, but keep it to a minimum, please). This is my first Rotary, and my first transmission job. 1: What seals will I need to replace/buy? 2: can I get them from my local AutoZones and PepBoys, or will I have to order them from specific sites? 3. Will I have to replace the Torque Converter? How will I know if it's still good or not? If there's anything I'm leaving out, by all means, chime in. I'm always down to learn. I appreciate it fellas (and ladies).

I would call a NAPA and see if they can get a kit or a local transmission parts supplier. If none, you take the thing apart, inspect, make a list, and call Ray at Malloy Mazda.

You should replace all seals and bearings, clutch packs (that are inside the drums), bands (go around and hold the outside of the drums), and the torque converter. Even if the TC is good there could be particles in it from the breakdown of other parts that caused the failure, so replace.

Clean everything and check things that hold fluid pressure like servos with compressed air. Check for any damage causing the failure like when a band has all its friction material worn through and has scarred a drum. Something like this is where it will start to get expensive: damage to hard parts that aren't always replaced in a rebuild.

I would get the documentation for a rebuild and read it completely before you start any work. This will not only make sure you are confident you can handle the job but will let you know if there are any special tools that will need to be purchased and if they are worth the cost to you of rebuilding the automatic.

If you are well stocked with tools the rebuild of a rear drive, 4 speed auto trans may not be too difficult.

Have never messed with the insides of an auto transmission and have no ambition to do so. Those things are too complicated for my small brain...BUT, I have R & R auto transmissions and haven't had to replace the torque converter.
BTW, just so you know when ordering parts, you don't have a 95 FC Convertible.

Thanks SGT. Blue. That was a typo on my part. It's a 91. I've had her for 3 years, I don't know why I said 95. Thanks for the detailed reply, CrimsonPride.
