Aftermarket parts

Seems like racing beat is the only place for aftermarket parts for the fb. Can anyone add to the list. Looking for exhaust at them moment but also curious about other parts.

RB is not the only place for aftermarket parts, but it is one of the best and most comprehensive. you can find other vendors for certain things, but the list will be scattered depending on what part you're looking for. many other places just sell their stuff.

for your exhaust, what exactly are you looking to do? are you looking to get a complete system (header to muffler) or something less complete (race pipe, catback, muffler, etc.)? RB stuff is pricey, perhaps a tad outdated in terms of modern-day technology, but you will likely struggle to find better quality and streetability.

RB offers full systems or parts. Rotary Performance offers some parts, too, but i've never used them so i can't comment. you could also have something built locally by buying your own parts and bringing them in just for labor.

I was planning on doing a full exhaust. I was looking at the rb exhaust and will agree with you that they are on the high end but from what I have read on the fourm it is the exhaust to get for a first gen. I was thinking about putting together an exhaust but dont want to end up with anything terribly loud and would like a good tone. Pacesetter has a decently priced header but havent found much information on quality. From the research i have done it seems like the stock exhaust is restrictive so it seems like a logical place to start for go fast parts.

if done right, the exhaust will likely be your single greatest power adder. if you simply want to bolt on a system and be done with it, then RB is a great investment. it covers all bases; sound, noise control, quality and fit. on the other hand, if you don't mind a little of this and a little of that, then you can put together a custom system and still get most of the bases covered. i know at one point Pacesetter offered a full system, but these day i only hear about the header. a friend of mine had their system back in the day and his car was significantly louder than an RB system at idle, but it sounded nice ... kinda meanish. we drove his car to Atlanta (from NYC) and it wasn't a hassle having to listen to it, but that was a younger me and i can't really make the call for you.

header - RB is no longer the BEST in terms of power, but if you want a header geared toward maximum power these days, you WILL pay for it. so if you think the RB unit is expensive (they were near $300 last time I looked), then you won't get more power than RB for less than about $700 unless you weld up your own or you bring a design and materials to someone you know that can. Pacesetter is what it is. they get bashed a lot and i am guilty of bashing them, but they're still better than the stock manifold. they don't have anything near the robustness of RB. they're cheaper than RB in price and just about everything else, but they will work.

muffler - you will need something that contains stainless steel wool packing. rotary engine exhaust gases are hell-fire HOT! they will burn up most other materials in relatively short order. the pulses are also strong, so you need something robust. get a fairly thin casing and God-forbid you have one good misfire ... it will literally tear the muffler in two! some people recommend Magnaflow, other don't. i have no opinion because i've never used them. however, i am looking at Borla's XR1s and a few Vibrant mufflers for my FC and i've seen them both used on turbo rotaries with success. the main issue is that they're probably loud. of course, universal mufflers from big shops like HKS and Apex'i (assuming they still exist) should work, too, since they usually offer systems for the Rx-7.

presilencers - RB or something that fits the general description of the mufflers above

piping - you need thickness for sound control; stainless steel would be better than mild steel, but mild steel works.
