'86 gsl head unit install, what is required?
Hello,
I drive a 1986 rx7 gsl and my head unit just ceased functioning. I have another single din head unit but have been reading that the rx7 stereo is very complex. Separate amps for each speaker and a low max wattage for each speaker. I have new pioneer speakers for the car and a Sony head unit ready to go. What is the best install kit for this vehicle and where is the best place to get it? Also would I need to rewire to the speakers to bypass the speaker amps? If so is there a guide to doing this? I have installed several stereo systems in cars and my last install required me to pull the dash in an old Buick. I have some experience but would like all the help I can possibly get, thank you in advance!

If the speakers are in the doors then find the color code to them and splice into the wiring(cut). That way you don't have to take the door cards off and snake wire..(trust me.,.,royal pain to get it through that rubber Snorkel in between the door and car body)
Your stock dash harness can supply power and ACC...Just splice after the connector(like T it..or solder)
The speaker wiring should be done from deck to speaker..running separate wires to each (Fr/FL..Rr/RL)
BTW..my stereo is worth more than my car!..Metallica beats Horsepower!
