You had a very good write up on how find what's backfeeding what to cause the car to keep running without the key. Now here's what mine does. Starts goes to an idle and doesn't turn off so with the key off I've tried pulling the btu fuse that don't kill it but the main relay 2 plug connector does. So I start it back up turn the key off and start pulling interior fuses bus none of them shut it off so in like stuck and don't really know where to look from here

The BTN fuse supplies constant power to interior fuses like the hazard and stop lights which doesn't have any affect on the running of the car. So, in most cases it's not likely a cause to your problem.

Of the interior fuses to pull the most likely culprit would be the 15 amp engine fuse. Did you pull this?

Did you do anything to the alternator recently? You can try pulling the 2 wire plug off the back of the alternator before starting and then see if turning the key to off works in shutting the car off.

There are two plugs at the main relay. Which one are you unplugging? Just one or both and if just one then which one specifically?

Has this problem just manifested itself recently out of nowhere or has the car always done this.

Finally, post your problem in the new thread so others can see it and it would be much easier for me to help you their. Doing this through pm's is a bit of a pain.

And what year is the car?

Okay you said to post it so I am. It's a 1986 and I dd this car from 86000 to 113000 for a 1 and a half years with no problems then bang it's one after another. I stopped driving it about 2 month ago because it started shutting off while I was driving. Now a lot happend so I might miss a few things but all of a sudden she won't start so i did a bunch of research of ppl who had similar prob and it ended up being there main relay of ignition switch so I replaced both of thos still nothing. with a tested good alt and charged battery but it would start off a jump so I decided just recently to rewire the battery and alt and then she fired right up like all my prob where fixed I took it for a ride felt better than ever but when I got back she wouldn't shut off lol

Now for your questions yes I tried pulling each interior fuses one by one with the key out none killed the car. The plug behind the alt was really loose and shitty so I crimped new ends onto each wire. I know that they aren't reversed. But as soon as I pull the bottom wire it kills the car with the key off of course, I haven't tried the top wire yet. I haven't tried starting it with both wires off yet either but I will try that. For the main relay I only unplugged the 2 wire plug with the key off and it killed the car so I think that means something is backfeeding the black and white wire off the 2 wire plug on the harness side. But Idk how to find what's backfeeding that wire

I'd recheck the alternator and wiring, in 30 years I've seen half a dozen cars that wouldn't shut off and in every case it was alternator related.

I figured out my key prob I had the lugs on either side of the 80 amp fuse in the engine bay swapped. Now it just seems like my alt get excessively hot.

The wiring is straightfoward and found in the FAQ. W/B runs to the CPU. B/W runs to the 15 amp interior engine fuse (15 amps no higher no lower and no relays involved whatsoever). Output cable runs to the engine harness before the engine fuse box (it runs to no fuse directly). If the alternator still heats up after being wired correctly then look at the output bolt connection and see if the ring terminal is clean and make sure the output cable is within proper resistance.
