1983 LE RX7 Rear End Swap
Im looking into swapping a 84-85 GSL-SE rear end into my 83 non lsd car. What will I encounter doing this swap, I know I need 84-85 gsl-se axles and the lsd, what else will I need to do this?

for starters, the gslse rear has different lug pattern, and larger axle and bearings than what u currently have. if ur looking to change to the lsd, just swap 3rd member from 81-83 gsl, then reinstall ur axles. for that and the disk brakes, swap the whole rear end from said yrs. pretty sure it's just a direct swap. proportioning valve is prob different between the drum and disk rears. but the overall best upgrade would be to swap in both front and rear from gslse. that way u get the best of all 3 worlds. better brakes, lsd, AND more wheel options due to changing the pattern from 4x110 to 4x114.3(4x4.5).

GSL-SE axles won't fit the 1983 housing. 1979-1983 cars have what is known as the small bearing rear end, and 1984-85 cars (doesn't matter if it's GSL-SE or not) have the big bearing diffs.
So GSL-SE axles and LSD will fit into a 1984-85 non-SE rear end, but earlier cars have smaller axles.
Also note that the driveshaft flange is different so you'll need the 84-85 driveshaft too. I just bought a rusty GSL-SE when I was building my car and swapped everything over, including proportioning valve, master, etc.
