13b rebuild

So I am contemplating rebuilding a 13b when mine blows but i am not sure if it is worth it or if I should just buy one that is supposed to run. I'm wondering how hard it is to rebuild it and get it running once it is back in

This is more of a personal decision and a financial one. Also it delves into your capabilities as a Mechanic.
To me it sounds like you are worried about the future, and if you think that way,you are going to get Ulcers!
Drive it like ya stole it.!!..then When the time comes,Do whatever is in the realm of your capability.

By the way, most of your questions are regular Newb Frequently asked questions, which can be found by searching/reading as they are so repetitive..

More Wrinkles on these questions than Joan River's Face!

I had a similar question many numerous posts ago and started watching rebuild videos. Sit down some night with a beer and watch an entire take down and rebuild. It has certainly improved my "can I do this?" perspective. I am no master mechanic, But also not someone who does not know what I dial-caliper is, but after watching some rebuild videos, I feel I can tackle it paired with the knowledge base that is on this forum.

Check one out, you will be surprised by the simplicity. They are more time consuming to check everything is to spec, then to rebuild them.

Mazdatrix has a 13b rebuilt video for about $25.00 if is affordable for you, explain step by step a complete rebuilt, tear down and assembly. Think the engine is a turbo II but is the same principle in all 13b's, it will give you an idea if you want to start from scratch!

Aaron cake also has a good free video somewhere in his Cosmo build , I bet there are 100 rebuild videos in this forum , but all of them do involve searching , reading and watching . have a good one . Foxed.ca - Mazda RX-7 Manuals

Take note that the cosmo engine is pre 1986 in which rotor weights and oil/water seals come into place and I think he has a later 13b but like you said, It requires searching and reading.
