Cops took my license. How do I get it back??
I took my car to <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place><st1:City>North Bergen</st1:City>, <st1:State>Nj</st1:State></st1:place> to a shop called MB Racing on Saturday to get a turbo kit installed on my Civic on Saturday. I drop the car around 10 in the morning & they tell me to come around <st1:time Minute="0" Hour="21">9p.m.</st1:time> So I come back @ 9 & they'll let me know that they couldn't work on my car because it was too busy, that they had to get other cars out of the way before they started on my car. So we decided on me bringing it back on Monday at the same time because the shop garage was already packed. So I go to my car & start it, while my friend who gave me the ride to the shop is on the other side in his car waiting for my car to warm up. All of a sudden black, early 90 GMC SUV comes up behind my friend & wouldn’t move. So my friend hits a u-turn & pulls up behind me while I warm up my car. While this is happening, I’m looking at the driver of the SUV & I notice he’s white & holding something to his mouth. I came to the conclusion that he was an undercover cop instantly & was holding a walkie-talkie. Instantly, I knew I was fucked. I start to pull out my paper work way & turn off my car cause I already knew he was going to **** with me. So the cop goes speeding up the block, hits a u-turn, goes speeding back down the block, hits another u-turn, comes in front of me & blocks me off like if I was planning to run. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
He comes out the SUV & I ask, "What’s the problem officer??" <o:p></o:p>
He doesn’t reply & asks me & my friend, "License & registration."<o:p></o:p>
So I hand it over & ask him again "What’s the problem?" <o:p></o:p>
He replies to me that he suspects the car is stolen since its been parked in the same spot all day & that he’s with <st1:place>North Bergen</st1:place>’s division of auto squad. Instantly, I knew I was fucked. Knowing already what they do to people in the Honda community here in the Hudson/Essex county area, I already knew that they were going to make me pop my hood, & if the motor had been swapped, they were going take my car their junkyard for further inspection to see if the motor had been stolen, & probably getting my car back somewhere in September or whenever they decide to give me my car back. Plus the full nitrous bottle in the trunk wasn’t going to help my chances of coming away in this either. His backup arrives & he hands over my license to the backup so he can check if everything is all good. Then, out of nowhere, both cops get a call to report to an incident in their area. He throws all our paperwork back at me & tells me that I got lucky. So they drive off & I take a sigh of relief. I give my friend his paperwork, I take mines & leave. We drive all the way to my garage in <st1:City><st1:place>Jersey City</st1:place></st1:City>. I collect all my paperwork & notice one thing missing, my license. I ask my friend if he has it & he says no. Then I think back & remember that he only handed the officer in the marked car my license & came to the conclusion that he drove off with it.<o:p></o:p>
So the question is, how do I get my license back from the officer if I didn't even get to get his name or badge # ??

As for getting your license back i woudl go to the police station and report the incident then apply at the dmv for a lost/stolen licnse and explain.
As for your way of portraying the cops as harassing the honda community. STFU. I know the honda community in NY well and know for a fact that 75% of these riced out ***** have hot motors. Stealing hondas for engines is so common ever here that we have places nicknamed the "integra graveyard" because of the ammount of stripped hondas dumped monthly.
When they broke up the fountain ave spot 2 summers ago, they impounded sooo many hondas for having engines with stolen/altered vins it was amazing. Remember, the guilty cant be harassed. Im not blamign you specifically but you know what im talkign about. thats the main reason i have no respect for most honda guys. Theyre some snake that steal form their own. The rotary community used to eb liek that im told, but not anymore.

The guys over at MB racing are BUSY. I know a kid that runs it. When you bring your car over next time, look for kevin, he's a young looking spanish kid with a shaved head. Just mention my name, say rob with the rx7, he'll take care of you.
As for the whole cop thing, thats just common procedure police do when they "suspect" something. They have to go through a series of events that need to take place because thats mandatory procedure. I doubt even if you are complete innocent will you have the right to take action because thats "their job" to be suspicious.
Like when my friend got pulled over last week for making an illegal turn, they HAD TO put him in cuffs because they found out he had alot of unpaid tickets. They know he did nothing wrong except that illegal turn, they know he was unarmed, he was right in front of his job when he did the illegal turn. It was common protocol that he had to cuff him.
Its just something cops do i guess. It sucks i know.

It seems to me you are real nervious on where your stuff came from so if the worst that comes out of it that you have to pay 8-10 bucks for a new license then I think you are getting off easy. Go to the DMV and just tell them you lost your license some where and you would like to get a new one.
And on a side note. If you know you are going to get the vins checked on the motor every time you get stopped sell the POS car.

And to BrooklynRx7, I understand the concept of "one bad apple ruins the tree", but thats not me, or ever will be me. I dont steal cars or support thieves. I know the label that comes to owning these cars. When I was talking about autosquad, I was stating that I know how they get down.

Stinky,
I lived in NY until two years ago... and traveling to Jersey to visit my chinese girlfriend I could see all that **** going on during the weekends... Honda's got it bad.. if you are on the RX7 forum what are you doing driving a Honda to begin with ?
Anyway...
Just go to the DMV and get yourself a replacement license then follow up with the police dept to make a report on your license not being returned by the officer. .. this is actually a double edge sword... if you make the report the cop can get pissed off and come hassle you ... so make the right choice.
