VDI an 5/6th port reinstall questions

To keep both the VDI (S5 UIM system) and the 5/6th ports operating correctly and smoothly, what is the best way to install them? Should I use a 2-stroke oil as lube when I put them in? Vasoline? I don't want to put everything together and have the systems not running again in two weeks. Also should I clean out the runners in the irons for the 5/6th ports and sand them down as best I can with 1500 grit paper?

I don't want my money to be wasted on the Atkins sleeves and re-finished manifolds.

i just clean it with plenty of brake/carb cleaner and put em in dry? maybe a dab of really light oil if it makes you feel better...

also on the lower intake, take the actuators off and make sure the rods pivot freely, the last few cars i've had its actually been the rods that are stuck.

I used two stroke oil when I put my engine together more for peace of mind than lubrication. They are still opening freely after four years of Summer driving but I premix to reduce the carbon buildup in the intake.

Premixing has zero effect on carbon buildup. I premix and I get nasty buildup sometimes.

Buildup in the manifolds seems to be mostly a factor of how good your oil control rings are. If you're sucking oil into the intake, it's going to eventually dry out and cake up. It can also puddle a half inch deep in a T2 intake manifold's plenum.
