Need to send it back to Australia?

Hooked up the LT12s to my 20b. Running LS1 coils.

+5 input signal, and Spark Signal set to IGNBT. Only choice is negative or IGNBT.

In test mode I get zero spark. Also, manually rotating the CAS does not yield any flashing yellow or spark.

It seems now that the ECU may not be flashed to accept LS1 coils.

How is the process sending this to Australia? Anyone know the turn-around time?

Hey Bumpstart,

Yes I tried 3.5ms and negative input, and negative spark output in menu 31. No fire. I also tried IGNBT which I assume means positive, still no fire.

I just realized tonight that these D581 truck coils are actually LS2. Perhaps the wiring should be reversed.

I forgot to add, is there a chance that the ECU may have been setup for a 3rd gen CAS and I'm using the 20b CAS which may cause any issues?

if they are ls2 coils then need a positive spark edge trigger
( leave input trigger as negaitive edge )
and yes the socket connector is wired differently

They appear to be LS2 truck coils. I had them wired correctly originally. I tried reversing and overheated a coil.

I've tried negative trigger and IGBT trigger with 4.0ms dwell and nothing happens in test mode. I put a multi-meter on the output wire and it read .02-.03 volts

it seems the " IGBT " trigger edge polarity setting on a LTS is not the 0.5 to 5 v PNP TTL signal required for ls2 coils
and is instead a CMOS level code for the x ignition box.. which possibly has a 5 V pullup circuit inbuilt

the correct + and - TTL signal selections are only for MT/LT models

as such you are limited to the x box and dumb coils
.. or choosing ls1 coils ( or others ) that take a NPN TTL signal

add one more to the microtech user hamstring

and then ---

ok, after finally getting a call back from microtech, i have a solution.

It turns out that when you have the microtech configured to run a X4 box, the microtechs 4 coil outputs(grey wires) are changed to a +12v pulse, this would then go to the X4 box and be converted to a negative pulse for operation of 'standard' style coils.(yellow wires)

so basically i can run the microtechs 4 wires straight from the ecu to the coils, with no x4 box.

Cheers for the input guys.

These are LS2 coils so I guess they are not receiving the necessary +5 pulse. I could attempt to use an LS1 coil and see what happens? I wish I had a way of knowing if it was damaged.

I have called Microtech and left a message. Probably will never hear back. Maybe its time to give up and toss all of it and start saving for a Haltech?

i would borrow a ls1 coil and see if it goes, else it is not looking great

where did you buy the ecu and coils from ?
was it sent as a lot ?.. or did you peice it together
i am wondering if the previous guy had your problems too

else it is going to be about 1/3 to half the cost to repair this than to go for an elite or p2000 with the outputs to run a 20b

downtime may be the biggest concern, i wouldnt expect them to turn it around with post times inside of 6 weeks

I've tried contacting the guy I purchased from. He never used the ECU however he states that the guy before him had no issues. I purchased the ECU and coils together. These LSX coils were not used with this ECU originally.

Ok thanks again for the help

Should the yellow light pulse in Test mode as the ignition fires? It does have any activity.

Would be a good choice. I know of a couple good used Sport 2000s for sale. With everyone wanting to upgrade to the Elite, the used Sports are selling for decent prices. Of course, if you want new and/or top of the line, we can do that too.

I'd definitely like to speak with you about the Haltech options when you get a chance. I sent you my contact info over your website. Thanks
