So let me give you a little insight as to how to step feature works. First off the car must be completely warmed up because otherwise the turbo will not ignite the fuel that you give extra on the delivery with increasing the milliseconds of enrichment. So if you use this feature right when you start the car it will not work the same as if the car was warm. The reason why 2 step is not harmful to the engine is because you decrease timing to 0, so it is actually missing the spark in the combustion chamber forcing the fuel out the exhaust as soon is that extra fuel hits the hot turbine wheel in the exhaust is when it ignites creating a super sonic boom inside your turbine housing of the turbo forcing it to spin faster then what the engine requires not under a load . Which is why this is bad for your turbo and not the engine. When your engine is at 5000 RPM generally not under load you should be right around 30 degrees of timing depending on your setup. When you take the timing away, and not fuel is how this works and creates boost, when the car is not under a load. Now the more aggressive you get with your timing the more boost you will make. At that point, yes this will create more engine fatigue when you add timing to a 2 step. Never take away fuel that is bad and not going to help you use your 2 step to your benefit. I hope this give everyone more of an understanding as to what is going on when you use this mysterious feature.
