Racing a cop!

I suppose that cops are enthusiasts of the rotary as much as we are. I was approaching my college yesterday in my weathered SE. My SE has bark to it, I managed to mate a pacesetter exhaust mani and muffler to a bonez cat, Solid components. Anywho, I have adopted the low rpm cruise to sound more civilized since out here in Fairfield California the cops are crazy strict. So I pull up next to a cop, he looks over his shoulder and starts to flag me. This cop revs his engine hard and peels! I was WTF? So I decided to kick in the first and caught up to this dude, FAST! I managed to go about 80, since I'm used to having 60 mph I tend to go 80 since it's near the center. Well, we where close to a right hand exit towards the school and flagged me to park. This dude jumps out laughing telling me he loves the ***** the RX7 has and tells me a story of a dude that he was chasing in a decked out 1st gen, and let him go because of the sheer speed he was going. I felt both proud and scared at the type of people working in the precinct. I suppose I'd be the same way if I where a cop. I love my RX7!!!!

I had a cop late at night come by a parking garage that i was getting some pictures taken at and he, i quote, said, "Hey Im bored, wanna take some pictures to look like a pursuit?" so we did what we could and took some good pictures. I'll try to find them and post them, but I do believe that this stuff happens.

I've only raced one cop one time, and I was on my yammie R6.....cooked his ***.

It was my cousin, but still he turned the lights on and everything when we launched.

He was kinda pissed because I kept going, and going, and going and I didn't see him again for a couple days. He thought we were going to do a 0-80 thing, and I laughed saying I wanted to race using more than just 1st gear. I was tapping 180mph on the speedo, so corrected speed was probably 160mph, give or take a few.

He got over it.

Pretty ballsy. The only cop I raced was way back in high school when I had my blown 78 chevy pickup and this cop had a camaro. He thought he would smoke me but I stayed right with him. He fell back when I started puling away from him...and proceeded to pull me over and write me a ticket. Oh well thats what I get hehe.

I haven't ever raced a cop. But I was racing my buddy's Cobra, and the next thing I know Highway Patrol is hauling up to me in my rear view, with lights on... I thought I was screwed, but he pulled out around to my left and pulled over the Mustang instead. Maybe cops really do love rotaries?

Haha, funny thread... Can't say I've ever had anything like that happen.

When I was 17, I was leading a "party train" to another house-party--and being the arrogant guy I *was*, I decided to punch it in my '87 base-model.... You know, because that would be "cool" to other people. Anyways, we were right by my high-school, and I go all the way to redline in 2nd gear, up to about 65mph in a 25... Sure enough, there was a cop sitting in the dark at the end of the street. He pulled me over and just laughingly wrote me a speeding ticket. "Goin' a little fast there buddy" is basically what he said--although in reality I should've gotten a reckless-driving/endangerment, been arrested and had the 7 impounded. Should've gotten a MIC/DUI too I suppose...

Haha my buddy has a cop for a neighbor. He was out in his new mustang one night and pulled up to a light with a black rx8. Smart one started reving up and looked over at the rx8 as his neighbor was rolling down the window glaring at him. He took a loonnnggg take off when the light was green lol

I never raced a cop but i did give a ride to a female cop thats dating a frind of mine. I launched at 7800 rpms on et streets and she screamed like i little girl on a roller coaster. It was a blast but she did leave an imprint of her gun in my leather seat. Good race!

He probably had no clue what you were, and just noticed the mustang next to you. Though it is a nice thought, that he likes rotaries enough to pull the other guy over.

A friend of mine was a CHP officer. I asked him if he might check my speedo by pacing me some time. We met, and got to talking about who's car was faster. I had an 82 GSL with a street port at the time. He had a Mustang GT CHP car. We decided to race, so he pulled out, and started going before I was ready. I pulled out quickly, and started gaining on him, but was too far behind to catch up. I later told him that he cheated, but I think he felt like he still won the race.

At any rate, it was fun to "race" a cop .

Haha, I just love Fairfield and the wanna be ricer kids who spool their turbos with high revs. I don't need turbo, my car's got ***** as is and smokes peeps easy, low end torque is my friend. It seems most cops have American cars from what you guys tell me. Either way, a dorky looking first gen like mine keeps the fuzz off my back. Sucks though, I blew my trans mount racing not too long ago and I'm going t2 tranny swap. Wish me luck.

heck yeah low end torque, fuel injected 13B, I don't know what's done to its internals since I don't have a garage, but I do know that I blast in 1st, 2nd I'm feeling g's, 3rd I'm about ready to stop, not much high end at 4th or 5th. That's how I know I got low end torque. I think I can post a sound recording, but my transmission mounts are both broken and missing. 5th gear blew em out. bad trans...bad.

Yeah, I bet you feel those g's, compared to a Geo Metro. Also, you have magical ears that allow you to HEAR all those torques???? Oh noes!!!! Drive a car with actual torque before you start this kind of nonsense.
