Murdered a beefy 06-07 GTO tonight

I'm returning from out of town with my friends, it's my 7 and my buddies 06 Tibby (intake & 100 shot with E/T streets). Out of no where there is a car ducking and weaving through traffic riding the tibby's rear. So I asked my buddy in the passenger side seat if he could tell if it was a cop or not...it wasn't it just happened to be a nasty sounding GTO that came up on the drivers side. He does a little snort and suprisingly enough it was quick just seeing that. Well I down shift to fourth to pull the incline in the road and so does he but now he's in third. I figure "hey here's a good chance to test the car out after the half-bridge and single upgrade running 12 psi". I grab third and as soon as I do he steals kick and blows the tires off and the front end of that sucker just rises, it's pretty even until around 7-7500 rpms then at 9k I grab fourth and thats all she wrote. I see the car vanish and I asked John where the hell is he, he said "he's still trying man, he's got guts I'll say that much (he laughs)". My buddy in the tibby calls, I miss the call, we role to a stop light and the guy pulls next to me and says, "That damn thing is bad, I like it" I said thanks I appreciate it, yours is pretty nasty if I do say so myself. We leave the light and cruise home, I call the Tibby and ask how it was from the rear he said "(he laughs) man you set him out at the least 10 lengths or more" I said "are you serious man I had no idea". That was it pretty much no bull **** just guys enjoying a friendly little race but he went home with a bit of a bruised ego.

I thought the same thing Brismo and that he might have let out of the gas but the chasing car (tibby) said it was a clean race besides him stealing kick, there were no missed gears, no letting out of it, nothing unusual about it. That's why I was so surprised when they told me the gap between the cars. I mean it really stunned me, of course I was happy as a lark grinning from ear to ear. Hey thanks though I appreciate the compliment on the car

^^ +1. How come I never run into guys like that? Everyone I bump into always seems to be a punk.

Good story, your car sounds pretty nuts, way to put a smackdown! GTOs can sound pretty nasty, I must admit Their suspension appears to be pretty soft in the rear, I've seen videos of those things shifting and the whole car kind of rocks to and fro, no surprise the front end came up when he nailed it I guess.

Damn muscle cars

Any video or pics of your ride?

a single turbo FD with 400+ running against an apparently mildly modded GTO isn't much of a race, the car is a boat and it prob makes 360 at the wheels

GTO's last production year was 2006. You can tell the LS2 models by the dual exhaust and the hood scoops.

But even then, at least those cars are more well respected as oppose to the chargers.

mdpalmer, as a matter of fact I do have a few pics but they are on my myspace page, 3 to be exact. Unfortunately no under the hood pics due to the fact that I'm keeping a low profile you know you're more than welcome to take a look though the link is (myspace.com/fuck_u_rl) pardon the language though lol. I'm wanting to go with H&R springs and KONI shocks then a wheel and tire setup after the misc. upgrades I need to take care off first.

mr2foryou, thanks I appreciate it man. You're in NC, but Elm City I'm not to familiar with. I'm actually about an hour from Greensboro maybe I'll see you around sometime.

While the LS2 engine is awesome... the GTO is a pig.

Clearly you need to put an LS2 in your FD, then you could 'kill' yourself. No pun intended

I dunno if the GTO 6.0 is a 'pig' - I ran one at Milan last year and he almost beat me. They're mid 13 second cars, stock....

Yes it is. It's a very heavy car. Ask any F-body owner.

It is a heavy car - almost 2 tons. I still beat that stock/stuck 'pig' and he ran mid 13's while losing to me (also stock)...

Yeah its def heavy but for a car thats a "pig" that can run 13s stock and has a hp/trq rating of 400/400 STOCK, thats no slouch.

Not to mention those LS motors are quite responsive to mods. Intake, headers, exhaust and cam can put these cars into the 11s. Thats about 2500 dollars worth of mods.

Nice Kill, I had a 94 FD before I had to sell it and I ended up picking up an 05 GTO. Perfect mix of comfort, reliability and power which is why I needed to sell the FD.

I have intake/headers/cam/exhaust car and I am putting 423hp/387ftlbs to the wheels. You'd think the car would fly, which it does, but they are very heavy cars compared to my FD. I had to get used to it. I'm saving up for the APS TT kit. With that on, will be in the 600-650 range stock bottom end
