Cobalts kinda suck.
Well, like everything its the driver that matters the most. I was kinda angry tonight when i went out driving, which was due to the fact that i broke up with my girlfriend. Anyway, I live in Washington, Gig Harbor, which is where all the little boys and girls have there mommy and daddy's buy them there BMW and such. And its quite "foresty" (a lot of curvy roads with trees close by) roads seem to be fairly nice for racing and drifting. (its just an idea, Im not saying street racing is smart, its stupid) So being the angered driver that I am, whats better than getting in your RX7 and driving carefully yet over the speed limit. Oh and one more thing, the streets were quite empty tonight due to Thanksgiving and its a weekday. So I was driving and driving and driving and stopped at a stop sign, and then out of somewhere a red Cobalt whizzed by me. Oh no. So i pulled out and made my way down on his *** after a few minutes, gradually pulling on him through the straights and the curves. Knowing the corner up ahead pretty well, it was a long sweeping corner perfect for a transition drift around him. It had rained the night before last so there was a little wetness on the ground and we shoulder to shoulder as i started my turn popped the clutch and away I was drifting beautifully around him. I gave him one of those and he gave me . I finished the drift nearly shitting my pants in happiness and fright, and he gave me a courtesy wave. Up ahead was a stop light so we both stopped and he pulled up next to me and said"Damn. You got me". I said" It was just luck" Any way theres my Cobalt story. (Good luck to everyone and DONT street race!)

sounds like it was fun. im not a fan of street drifting anymore. but be careful and think about this kinda stuff before you do it.
it would have been a bad turkey day if a car had come around that sweeping turn or a deer jumped out or even a tire blow out. theres just no telling what can happen during a drift. thats why i dont do it on the streets anymore.

I bet you have replayed that story in your head soo many times, you actually believe it. I bet you thought you were going to get a lot of cool points for posting this....
I've never watched Initial D, but apparently it's turned our youth into a bunch of ****. Drifting was cool in the early '90s.... in Japan..... give it up.

whats a Turbo V?
yea i still like inital D but i keep drifting for the track thats why i bough a 240SX. RX-7s are ncie and all but if you want to drift a 240SX is realy the better option. the RX-7 makes a better grip racing car.

I think we could use more stories like this in the forums. It's a breath of fresh air to the drag kills. No offense to anyone, it's just cool to hear something other than
rx-7 vs. x car outrun because rx-7's are more than just drag cars. We also need stories from the autoXers and others out there.
That being said, good "kill". Did the Cobalt know that you were racing him, or did you just zip by him? Also, what mods, if any?

Firstly, good kill! To be honest, a base Cobalt vs. an FC in a drag is very much a driver's race. To race him on twisties, you have an advantage, but it will still come down to driving ability. I applaud you on your ability to drift, especially well enough (or luckily enough) to drift your way into an overtake.
Now, having said that, don't you think that the RX7 would've smoked him harder if you had managed to grip through the turn? I suppose you could say that drift adds insult to injury, tho; lets him know that he's driving the wrong wheels, gives a nice little
eh, it sounds like the Cobalt was playing around to start off with... I'm of the mindset that you come upon someone who is playing around in their car, and you feel the need to play around, then the other party is under some sort of pressure to go at it with ya.
**EDIT**
I just wanted to add, while drifting on public streets is a bad idea, y'all need to end this talk of "RX7 is a bad drift car" f'real. Yes, it is true that a Silvia is an easier car to drift. Yes, it's true that drifting is (at least in most cases) not the best way to race in a 7. HOWEVER, a 7 is a respectable car for drift, one which takes a mature foot to maintain proper control with. If this guy drifts like he says he does, he is to be praised for having that ability.
still, drift+street=bad

freaking newbs. Does he give you a reach around for being a good little boy?
Drifting isn't respectable in any sense of the word.

Umm I dont see why there is a kill section if people hate street racing soo much, I know theres more than street racing but A story is a story and the guy said the street was empty, I respected him, rather than the a**es who race with a highway full of traffic. But nice story bro. Um yea street racing is kinda stupid

This is a classic moment in history. Newb posts his "Street drifting" story and instantly gets flamed for being "gay" by all the RX-7 owners that know what they're talking about. Then a horde of "drifters"(ravenous canibals who can't tune, can't drive, and smell bad and patrol any curvy mountain road looking for "kills") tell the real RX-7 tuners that racing is bad and Drifting is what life is all about, and if you don't like it then, dammit, I'm telling mommy. NOW come the part where we all throw our heads back and laugh. Ready...
Ready!
