Greetings, All!

Although I have enjoyed reading posts on this site for a number of years, I have only just recently become a member.

By way of introduction, I am the original owner of a 1993 FD RX-7 (Base Model), purchased with only two options: leather seats and CD player. My car, which currently has ~160K miles on its odometer and received a new engine at 48K miles, has been serviced religiously by Mazda technicians at Mazda dealerships. In fact, a single technician, who has done 99% of the service on my car, just this week retired from my local (central Missouri) Mazda dealership.

Other than a Peter Farrell cat-back exhaust (installed ~1997) and a '99 Japan spec OEM turbo (installed ~2000), the car remains in its stock configuration.

My RX-7 was my daily driver from 1993 through 2003 (when my twin daughters were born, which meant, of course, that my daily driver changed to a minvan!), and the overwhelming majority of its 160K miles were accumulated in 1993-1997, when I was commuting every three weeks or so from southeast Michigan (where I purchased my RX) to central Missouri (where I eventually relocated back to).

Since 2003, my RX-7 has been reserved for fair-weather Sunday morning drives on two-lane blacktops to and from and along the Missouri River. Since 2003 the car accumulates between 500 to 1,000 miles per year. Nevertheless, my RX remains a joy to drive!

As I consider addressing some deferred maintenance items and some likely mods, I am looking forward to posting on this site and benefiting from the collective experiences and wisdom of the members here.

Best,

rx7diver

Thanks, iCRed. Unfortunately, I am not sure how much longer I can keep my RX in its near-stock state. A couple of years ago my air conditioner ceased working. My tech traced the problem to a part that he couldn't source new. Since I have always replaced almost everything that needed replacing, with a new OEM part, I elected to hold off having the air conditioner repaired. I suspect that, due to the age of these RX's, more and more replacement parts will no longer be available new.

Congratulations on the twin daughters... In their teens now I'm sure so that'll be a kicker haha. =] Either way, the RX7 community is definitely an awesome one to be a part of and there are plenty of members who will be willing to help with any questions you may have. Good luck on your modding and to the maintenance that the FD may need. Might seem like a chore at first but it'll be that much more rewarding afterwards! =D

This photo was taken by my eldest two years ago. She wanted to go for a ride one beautiful autumn afternoon, so I left work to take her. This enormous Burr Oak, located in farmland proximal to the MO River, is one of the oldest trees in MO. This is along one of my favorite routes, about 20 minutes from Columbia, MO.

(I realize my RX is tiny in the photo.)
