I just bought a land rover that doesn't have any kind of dash kit. I do a search on Dash Kits on yahoo and find hundreds of sites. I click on www.dashkits.net and what do you know its a picture of my 7. I think I should get a free kit. I mean they are using my car picture to sell more kits. What do you think?
Its against the law. You can get cash.. A lot of people break the law on here all the time, stealing pics and such for their webpages, but no one says anything..
if they do not have a photo release form signed by you, you can sue them. my dad is a photographer and everytime he takes pictures he needs to get a formed signed so he wont get sued. hurry up and contact a lawyer. you can make some money out of this.
You dont have to copyright a picture. Webpages only put their webpages on the pics to keep people from taking them, but to actually steal your pic and you can provide proof (hard) you would be good to go, laws are always able to be bent..
RotaryKnight had the same problem. And the companies which used the photos would just laugh at him.
Why?
Because there is no copyright on the photo. Yes, you could pursue legal action, but why? All it would take is their webmaster to swap the photo w/ another one. And that will only take seconds to do. So, the cost of pursuing legal action (on your part) would be FAR greater it would be for them to simply remove the picture. Misrepresentation? Well, RotaryKnight was sponsored by HKS, Volk Racing (Mackin Industries), etc. All of which are well known companies. But again, how much money do you want to spend on having them remove a single picture?
Although if you it is a matter of principle. You can purchase the kit from them. If the product is DEFINITELY not the item depicted in the picture, then you can sue for false advertising, etc.
But again, it comes down to how much YOU are willing to pay to do this.
that's wrong there has to be some breaking of the law. i mean they're using your picture to sell things which you didn't even buy from them. i think you should threaten them and then just settle for some dashes don't want to be to harsh. or i just say sue their *** this is america!!!
just ask a lawyer that deals in copywrighted photos. he will know better then anyother fourm member on this board. also if dashkits is making money off your pic by selling rx7 dashkits then you are intitled to some of it.
