Yeah they are pretty similar to the RX8 R3 Recaros and I haven't seen anyone run them yet.

Compare the dimensions to the CR1's and Sparco Evo 2. The Sparco's rub the door and need some trimming and the CR1's fit without modifications. If the dimensions are within the same parameters at those two seats, then it should fit. At some point, someone has to be the first.

That's the plan. I took a gamble and got Evolution X seats based on rought measurements, but that didn't pan out.

The seat backs are perfect (don't hit the doors) but the base is just too long/wide at parts to make it realistic to put in an FD.

Once I sell the Evolution X seats I have (baring finding a set of R3 Recaros) I think I'm going to give the Sportline RRS seats a shot.

Are Atomic Rex style rails still available anywhere, I really like the way your seating position turned out.

I have read through this thread and pulled up sizes for a bunch of these seats. I am a bit perplexed: unless I have mixed some dimensions and seats up, I found seats on the "fit" list that are bigger (top or bottom) than some of the seats in the "don't fit" list. Maybe I should gather all these dimensions up and post them here?

I would like to see somebody post the stock seats size (maximum bottom and top width) as well as the distance from the centreline of the seat to the door panel.

If you wonder why I'm not measuring it myself, my car is being taken care of, so it is not within my reach.

I'm eager to see if this one will fit. I haven't found a spec sheet on it with dimensions, but I emailed Sparco and I'm waiting to hear back.

Sparco USA

Comparing between it and the EVO II, I'm thinking it won't fit without even more modification than the EVO II. There is more space between the harness holes, and they are also wider than on the EVO, and it looks like the width from the edge of the harness hole to the furthest point on the wing might be the same size, maybe a tad shorter than on the EVO.

I've been planning on getting the EVO II but I'm not crazy about cutting up a brand new seat. I've been looking at the Suzuka Pro GT since it fits a little better and I like how the leg bolsters come up higher at the edge.

Something I've learned in my trials and tribulations of trying to fit my 6'1" 34" waist frame into any type of seat (made to fit smaller cars such as the FD) that will get you lower in to the car is physically impossible.

The wider based seats won't clear the stock rail mounting positions and will in turn, position you higher than the stock seats.

The only logical way to fit "normal" sized Americans in to a bucket, AND be sitting lower in the car, is to have some custom mounts made. There's no other way. I have been through three types of seat and mount configurations to no avail. Being that I have a roll cage, I had to go more in depth and cut out the rear stock mounting "pads" and reinforce the chassis pan. Then I had some mounts welded straight to the floor.

If you're getting buckets merely for aesthetic reasons, save your money and get the JDM Recaros. That's really the only way to go without doing something relatively custom.

Again, this is my $.02 considering my body frame and what I've already been through.

^Was that a response to me or in general?

If I had a choice, I'd get seats that recline still, something like the Bride Gais, so I can get into my rear bins still. However, I'm not paying that crazy amount of money for a seat that's not even FIA approved. Also, I already got a set of mounts from Adam Griffith that mount directly to the floor and only fit side mount bucket seats. I'm 6'3" and I sat in his EVO II with the same mounts and had extra space for a helmet. I'm just not crazy about having to trim off so much of a brand new seat, and I like a couple things about the Suzuka Pro GT and I really like that new Grid, I'm just not sure yet if it'll fit.

Also, I'm not sure getting the JDM Recaros should be considered "saving money" when they cost more than most of the bucket seats out there lol.

It was just in general. I have taco neck with a helmet on in my pro2000 and Adam's mounts. Headliner and sunroof is completely removed. That gives me space directly above my head, but my front down bar for the roll cage gets in the way.

Uh oh, if you're 6'1" and have a problem fitting with pretty much the same parts I'm going to have, I hope I have a shorter torso or something lol. I have a sunroof also. I don't have a roll cage though, just gonna be using the roll bar, so hopefully that will help some.

This is mounted on Atomic Rex rails (thanks J-AUTO) and is probably about as low and far back as you can mount a seat. With the seat and Nardi 330mm together, I have incredible legroom for the first time since owning this car - it's almost like driving an open-wheel car with my feet straight forward. The seat and harness made a HUGE difference regarding the responsiveness of the car and my ability to drive it too!

Very nice!!! Cobra has a few nice options! Solid seats...some are FIA and I think this one is as well. Definitely on my list of seats to seriously consider

Anyone else have the Suzuka Pro or Pro GT seats and can comment on how comfortable they are or aren't? Specifically for longer trips.

I'm curious about some of these seats fitting and others not fitting. If you look at this site...

http://www.safedrives.com/prodimages...cingShells.pdf

...the Pole Position is not as wide as the Profi SPG at the shoulder bolsters, but wider at the bottom. Also, are the seats measured with the foam or without? It might not hurt for everyone to say what seat rails they are using when the seat fits. I've seen some mention using rails from a different manufacturer than the seat to help them fit. And I know some have said, but some haven't. It also might help if people list where the seat had to be modified...just the shoulder bolsters and/or the side bolsters so it doesn't touch the door panel and/or tranny tunnel.

I'm 6'3", about 220lbs. My waist measures around 38" but my hips seem to be around 44", and when I sit down, they're about 16" across which comes out to 406mm. If a seat is measured with the foam, I should be able to fit into the regular Recaro Profi SPG and don't need to step up to the XL.

I bought rails from Adam Griffith to bolt the seat directly to the floor, and he has the EVO II with the same rails. I sat in it and fit and it seemed like I'd have enough headroom, but I'm wondering if I can find a seat that I won't have to modify quite as much. Such a pain trying to find a seat to fit our cars, but I guess it's not as bad as a Miata or an S2000 lol.

Oooh la la!

Cobra Nogaro Seat | Fast Car Magazine

I'm gonna message them and see if I can get some specs on this seat.

EDIT: Damn, I just realized these don't have the lap belt holes, and probably not for 5/6pt harnesses either.

A lot of the seats WILL fit with combinations of rails and mounts for normal driving purposes. However, if you plan on doing track days that require wearing a helmet, you're going to have a lot of trouble.

Using only a 4 point roll bar would definitely save you some head room vs a 6 point.

There are other ways around it, but that would also require reclining the seat so far back that it would not be a comfortable (or safe) driving position.

Yeah that's the whole point of getting a different seat, to lower it all the way to the floor so I can fit with a helmet. I plan on trying different degrees of tilt to get the lean and angle of the legs where I want them. Not too extreme, just a little if possible.

I hadn't even planned on getting a roll bar until I saw Westley selling his haha. I've had the harness bar for years now and planned on getting the different ends to use the roll bar but then I heard he had stopped making them.

I got an email back from a Sube Sports rep about the Cobra Nogaro. It looks like that seat would fit easily in our cars.

I have the corbeau RRS seats in my 3000gt vr4. I like everything about them except they are a little narrow in the shoulder area. I am hoping that someday they will make a wide version. The stock corbeau brackets also are pretty high so I made my own to lower them. MaximalPerformance.com gave me the best price I could find.

Based on their dimension on the website, I'd say it probably wont fit without cutting the seat similar to the evo.
