VT Just come out already

So in my '93 RX7 with Bose, I pulled out and unplug the CD player and I mostly pulled out the tape deck/radio but it won't come fully out. There seems to be two cables on the right side, if you are sitting in it, that are connected and I can't seem to disconnect them. I'm assuming they need to be disconnected for the radio to come fully out. Someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong. Right now, the cd player is pulled but not the radio.

the antenna connectors are on the passenger side of the back of the HU (radio) and were often not routed correctly when the cars were assembled leaving not enough slack to pull the unit out w/o ripping the antenna leads out of the unit.

You can get down in the passenger footwell and reach around and unhook them or you can try working through the CD din hole. They are motorola type connectors used for antenna connections on many cars. There is usually enough slack in all the other wiring connections to remove the HU. If you still can't reach the antenna connectors, you can try removing the glove box and then the center speaker amp. One way or another you should be able to get enough room to disconnect them from the rear. There are 2 antenna connectors. Make sure you find and unhook them both. It is possible they could be under the carpet.

The other problematic area is the rubber covered rear stud. The rubber hardens and it tends to want to stick in the opening in the rear support and not come out.

If you want some pics there are other thread out there on this. Many others, me included, have had the same problem. I spent about an hour of pulling to remove both the CD and HU. The rear studs were really stuck. I did not know about the routing of the antenna leads and those pulled out of my HU upon removal.
