There are several things you need to understand, and info we need to help you.

1000w means nothing to me unless you say peak handling or RMS. Which is it? 1000w max power handling or 1000w RMS?

This will help greatly.
Please also post the model, OHMs the sub needs to run at (IE 1000w rms at 2 ohms)

yes we need to know if your running only one sub or more than one and the ohms of each sub. Personally I wouldnt be to hung up on an amp for a sub as its pretty tough to hear the difference in different companies, I would spend the money on better speakers and installation.

you get what you pay for in an amp and try to match the RMS of amp to the RMS of your sub

From my understanding with the Pioneer subs its 1000w max power so that would make the sub have 500w RMS. It really depends on how much money you want to spend but you can't go wrong with a JL Audio 500/1. It also depends on how much bass you want becuase the way you wire the sub could drop a 4ohm load to a 2ohm load. Otherwise for price and still have good quality quality I would recommend the Alpine MRP-M650 mono amp. Even Rockford Fosgates 500/1 would do the trick and that will still give great quality. I'd stay away from the Sony **** becuase sony is only good at making tvs and home stuff but for the car go with something a little more high quality. Trust me it makes one hell of a difference.

JL 500/1 would be overkill for a pioneer sub, not only on price, but on the power output as well. I would compare that to hooking up a dvd player to a 13" black and white tv. You can get MTX and Kicker amps pretty cheap on EBay, both should give you as good of sound quality as you can expect out of a pioneer sub and plenty of power to push it.
