Arrow Questions about post, never seen website w/minimum post requirements...

When first joining this website, you are required to post on this begginer forms. I've never been to a website like this one before. Come to think of it I've never ever post on any fourms before. Is it like this other places too?

No...as far as I can tell, RX-7 Club is unique in thoroughly vetting its New Members and in checking every classifieds ad before it hits the regular Classifieds boards. OTH, this site is also refreshingly free of idiots trying to spam cellphones, Viagra, get-rich-quick schemes from Canada and ****.

It is also 99% free of scammers ripping off members and flat out nutcases threatening people and acting like morons as they do so on the rest of World Wide Web.

And this PIA system has everything to do with that. Read Sgt Fox rules for New Members posting and your "troubles" will go away. I added the Location Icon for this thread before its release, for example.

Trying to answer an ad and you can't till you have 10 postings. Doesn't make sense. By the time I answer the ad it will be sold.
So now I have to post 10 times before I can answer an ad. So a posting I will go.

I know of other forums and doesn't have this same rule.
So this is my post number 2 and 8 more to go. Waste of time. But what do you do. Go with the flow.

the rules are real clear about the ten post thing and 'post whoring'...you sound like a hoser to me joining just to buy partz. the funny part is that its not hard at all to get ten posts just answering questions in the tech section and answering people when you do the easy introduction thread. why don't you guys want to obey the rules? y'all think ur 'specialler' than everyone else or what?

The problem is good parts come and go. Do you think it is fair to wait a period of time to buy a part from one of your members.
If someone can respond to an ad pay a fair price, wouldn't that make one your members satisfied of being a member.

I'll answer that since I don't want a noob acting like he knows official policy around here. The fact is, we don't want people joining just to buy parts here. This is not an online shopping center. The Classifieds sections exist as a privilege for our regular members and the last thing we want, and we had this happen just last month, is some new member join just to buy parts and then gets t-boned because he doesn't understand how to use what he bought and then he starts a Bad Guy thread when he is the person at fault, not knowing enough about rotary engines or tuning for rotary engines.

Join to learn. Join to find the people in your area who are rotary rex guru's. Don't join just to jump on a part or car you saw or worse, join to unload your junk because you've been beaten by the rotary engine.

Hi Mario III

I understand what you are saying. I will try and find a local RX7 guru's near by. If he doesn't have the part then if I may put in a ad in the wanted section. I know what I am looking for.
I need a 79 to 85 RX7 rear disc brake set up in my Sunbeam tiger. It has 436hp and I need something to stop other than buying a set of Rear disc set up from Dale's Restoration but his is 12 inch rotor fiat set up. RX7 is a 13 inch rotor.
This is also not a fly by night restoration. I have over 30K into the tiger along with 3 other collectible cars. One Corvette valued at 300K So I am not a fly by night parts seeker.
If I had any parts to sell it wouldn't be junk. Most of my parts are Sunbeam tigers and corvette and they are NOS items. If I was going to get another RX7 it would be the RX8 and I would have it twin turbo'd.

Thanks, Grant

It seems like it is becoming the norm on a lot of forums.

Far as I can tell, we pioneered the notion in the car forum market.

And the post count thing is meant to protect our members from scammers and to also protect new members joining just to buy and then getting all hurt when they sometimes get burned because they aren't careful enough or are unaware of the rules when they mention "caveat emptor."

Nothing raises my hackles as much as a "Bad Guy" thread started by a guy with 12 posts about some part that was bought off this website but the new member didn't read the rules or just decided to disregard them. So he doesn't reply in the thread where the part was offered for sale, despite the rules saying you should, he doesn't have a receipt to post, he can't actually prove the part was broken or wrong because there's no info in the thread and he decides to try to post negative iTrader feedback and the BG thread.....when, in every situation so far where this has happened, it was the new member's lack of knowledge or long distance buying methodology that actually created the "disaster."

We don't want to see that here. The feeling is that if people joining don't care for the rules, they're likely to do anything and we don't want 'em here.
