**Read this if your post count dropped

There used to be a red sticky posted by the Admin/Mods that you were asked a few different questions to help get your post count up to be able to post in other sections. I recently joined this forum back in August and I recall answering the questions to get my posts up. I had reached the required posts and was able to post in other sections.

It appears a short time ago, that thread was deleted and with it went all of our newbie posts. Suddenly my posts dropped from the required 10+ posts down to 4 and I am/was no longer able to post in the classifieds. I realized this after I tried to post a WTB in the classifieds and was told because I didn't have 10 posts, I couldn't.

I have read the stickies and understand rules and I was following them. Then my post count dropped and suddenly I was not within the rules anymore. I understand I have to have 10 posts to get back into the classifieds, but I may have more meaningful posts when I actually have a car and can gain some knowledge to contribute to the community.

Anyway, my purpose isn't to stir trouble, but help those that might have had the same issue as I. I imagine that is likely a small number, but it took some searching to find out what happened to that thread.

Thanks.

***************PLEASE read this Thread!******************* (..chuckle on title!)

IN THE PAST,You were asked to read some posts and would be Compensated with a Post count of one per each post.
NOW that the NEW RULES are in effect ALL OLD CORRESPONDING RULES WERE DELETED taking some people's posts with it.
Sorry the Vast number of new members were not consulted about this.
It was much easier to post the NEW Rules and have them in effect rather than wait the approval of ALL the members that posted and send each and every one Pm's to tell them that they were to lose a couple posts when the New rules take effect.

Seems you were posting to get 10 posts to buy and sell though..Which is not the main reason why the Forum was created.
The Classifieds were made as a bonus to Members..not to new guys to sell and buy,so If you care to participate in threads, ask some questions about the car you plan to get, then it would be more comforting to know that the Forum has itself another dedicated true member.
We are sorry for your loss..but Show other members what we can gain when you participate in some car talk.Stick around, have fun..don't pinch the waitress..!
Thanks man,and I hope that clears thing up.

*just a reminder that with a large base of membership not all changes will be agreeable..BUT the changes are done to enhance the operation of this Forum and if like the Rotary, it gets stuck in the Stone age, then it won't operate with modern Tech..or Modern people!
The owners and volunteers of this Site strive to keep it a clean and efficient source of Rotary related vehicle info.Parts are another thing though and can be sourced on other internet sites besides this Car Forum.
I hope that is understandable.
Thanks.

Thanks for clarifying. I would have been more detailed in my description of those threads, if I had them to refer to. I intend to be more active member once I land a car to my liking. I was a member on another forum for my old car for 10 years and had quite the extensive journal. I plan to do the same here.

Im not going anywhere. I already have wheels and tires for the new car when I find it along with many other plans. Mostly lurking for now. My purpose of gaining access to the classifieds was to post a WTB to get some more exposure.

Cheers.

So, to clarify, we need to maintain 10+ Recent posts to have full access? 9 times out of 10 the question I have was answered by searching the archives. Am I shooting myself in the foot by not posting? For example, I have been browsing the site since getting into fd's 3 seasons ago, but can't post in the classifieds since I don't post.

Well if you do not post then you do not get a post COUNT..
No sense in putting you in the batting line up if you do not want to play!..But I am sure you would be a great statistician!...chuckle!
I'm old..my bat doesn't work well any more...hahahahha! (was that too much info????)
Grab 10 posts then you can access the Classifieds!

It is GREAT that you have used the Forum and searched for your answers, which really is what the forum is intended to do..provide info.
Thank you for that.I hope the Forum is providing you with your much needed info.
The reason that you need 10 posts is to have you establish yourself as a true member so that you are not here just to buy and sell.
We try and stress that it is a Car Forum, not just another source of Ebay/Craiglist items.

Okay, thanks! I won't lie, half the reason I visit the forum is to check the classifieds. Project car = change. Change relies on new parts (or ideally near mint used rare parts). Wish I could buy everything new.

But more often than not if a problem comes up, someone in the last 24 years has encountered the same one. If will have to start posting pics tho... so another reason to re-read the noob threads.
