Question Will E6K or E6X work for diesel engines??

Well we have a construction business and last year had a chance to buy an 80 something year Ford FSeries diesel truck. Man i love the torque especially with the 4 speed manual tranny. It really hauls ***!!..Well to make a long and boring story short the engine gave up (water getting its way in the engine). I then found a wrecked ambulance and had a 2001 POWER STROKE DIESEL ENGINE. We bought the ambulance and took the tranny and engine and whatnot. Now my mechanic did the tranny and engine swap but now stumped on the electrical. I want to bypass all the **** and just ran it with some sort of EMS. My choice is Haltech E6K because i had it in my TII and will also run it in my GTUsTII.

Does the E6K have the capability of controlling this kind of engine??. The new power strokes i believe are fuel injected???.. i coulb be wrong... i just want to know if it will work...thanks!!!!

i thought most diesels have mechanical fuel injection.

give me the exact vehicle it came from and i'll get the schematic from mitchell on demand. it'll probably be easier just hooking up the factory computer than trying to do something else.

Diesels are fuel metered, not airflow metered like gasoline engines. I don't see how it would work. Besides, the E6 ECUs control spark plugs, which you don't have.

For a diesel all you really need is fuel metering. I believe you can run a fuel-only controller like an F-series and be fine. Do a little more research but you definitely will not need anything that controls ignition, as your ignition is a simple byproduct of super high compression. ;-) I would think the F series will handle everything a Diesel needs but you may have certain important control solenoids or whatnot that make a special controller necessary.

ok thanks guys!. Im just trying to speed up the process with my mechanic. He has been working really really slow with the truck. Almost 2 years now and he aint done yet. I think he shows up once a month. $%^&*(.... anyways, its obvious that i dont know nothin' about diesel engines.

Dave- it was off a 2002 Ford Econoline.. Its an ambulance!.. Worst comes to worst ill just wait another year for the $%^&*^%*&^ mechanic to finish the truck...
