i have a 87 turbo with a cosmo 13bre front mouth to4e safc tt, and thats about it the guy before me that owned the engine had it in a s5 with a lt8?? ltx8 or sumthin like that and he claimed it was running mid 12's on stock suspention...i bought a rolling chassis and i got the engine off a dealer down south but this was the engine that was in his car. just wondering if i should get a haltech or should i be fine?

Did you mentioned you still had the Microtech LT8? or are you right now in need of an ECU? the point is, the Hatelch is right now one of the best bangs for the buck in the aftermarket performance industry, cost per options is ideal, specially when you have an application like yours, where you have serious mods and you need to control it all.

Example, the Microtech LT8 (or LTX8 if it has its own bosch coils) is a good system but has fewer configurable inputs and outputs than say a Haltech E6K or E6X, and cost about the same, where the Microtech only has like 1 auxiliar output, the Haltechs have 4 PWM type, 1 Auxiliar, and a Spare. The Microtechs do have that nifty auto tune feature the haltechs dont have, but then again, a haltech is one of the easiest systems to program out there.

Im a Haltech dealer, and i also work with motec, AEM, Hondata and Electromotive, ive seen what the micortechs can do, if you dont really need all the outputs you can save about 100 bucks from the haltechs, and have autotune, if you do need things like fan activation, shift light, boost control, NOS control, etc, the haltech is the way to go.

And of course, for the best system in the world bar none, you have the Motec M4/M48, but, costs twice sometimes 3 times as much, but has cuadruple the features and benefits.

Hope that shed some light on your question, if you need to compare, here is a link to read on.
