Need Help w/ E6K IGN&FUEL SETTINGS

Hey everyone,

I finally got connection between the laptop and the E6K And now i need help with setting up the IGNITION and FUEL Settings. I'm asking is because I HAVE NO SPARK.

I have double checked my Coil/ Ignitor wiring to the LEAD and the TRAIL coil... and still no spark. I do get a 380rpm reading from the EMS when cranking if that means anything, but i've spent the days diagnosising why i don't have spark! And it has led me to that the setting might be off.

So Far, here is the settings for the E6K that i have up:

MAIN SETUP
Cylinder: 1
Load Sensing by: MANIFOLD
MAP sensor: 3 BAR
RPM Limits: PRIMARY 8500
RPM Limit Type: FUEL CUT
Units: US
RPM mode: 10500
Road Sensing Value: 12750
System Mode: ADVANCE

IGINTION SETUP
Trigger Input: INT. RELUCTOR
Trigger Gain: 2
Trigger Mode: ADDAPTIVE
Trigger Angle: 65
Type: MULTITOOTH
Spark Mode: DISTRIBUTOR
Engine Type: ROTARY
Output Type: CONSTANT CHARGE
Coil Change Time: 4.5
Output Edge:FALLING
Home Input: INT RELUCTOR
Gain: 2
Locking Timing: OFF
Number of Teeth: 24
Tooth Offset: 3

FUEL SETUP
Ign/By: 1
Decel Cut Off: ENABLE
RPM: 2000
Injection Mode: SEQUENTIAL
Post Start Temp Limit: 127 BELOW
Post Start Time Limit: 60
Staging Bar Number: 10
Zero Throttle Map: ENABLE
Full Throttle Map: DISABLE
Marometric Pressure Loct at: 1046
Disable Injector Outputs: NO
Throttle Pump De....: 0

If would be very helpful if someone can double check their running setting for the the 13BT.

Thanks in Advance,

Sonny.

And also, my coils are not getting 12V source when the IGN is ON.

Two things I see in settings. 1st is that Cylinder in Main Setup should be 4. The other is Injection Mode should probably be staged if you are in fact setting it up as staged injection. Not sure the E6K has enough drivers to do sequential. Never tried it.

Also, the big issue is that you need 12V+ at the coil to get spark. Solve that first.

Thanks for the inputs guys. I will make the adjustments.

Would the spark come from the CAS? If so, after looking over my notes again, i may have wired the CAS wrong.

The spark signal will come from the ECU. The only thing the CAS is doing is telling the ECU how fast the engine is spinning and where it is in a revolution. Fix the power to the coils first. You won't get spark until you have power there. Your wiring and settings could be perfect but you'll only chase your tail until you have 12V+ at the coils.

the CAS sends the signal to the haltech so it knows when to send out the spark. so yeah, if the coils are wired up correctly, the CAS would be the next place to check

also, i'd change that Coil Change Time down to 3.5 or so

edit: i see ludwig already posted. lil bastard

Thanks.

From the ECU, out of three wires from the E6K, which is the 12V switch?

IGN OUT...Light Green >>> Leading
DIG OUT...White/Black>>> Trail Timing
AUX OUT...Green/Black>>> Trail Toggle

Jacobcartmill,

Don't you think 4.5ms for the constant charge would better for the GT42 tubo and the 10 range spark plug that i have?

i cant guarantee that, but i was running 9 range NGK's at about 15psi with 3.5 and had no problem. 4.5 just seems a little high to me for some reason. i've always been told its supposed to be between 3 and 4.

None. Those are all leads that trigger to ground. You need to supply the coil with a switched 12V+ source. One side of the coil gets 12V+ the other side gets the trigger. Pretty simple. Check the leading coil. With the key on you should have ~12V+ on the pin you did not hook the trigger wire to.

C.Ludwig,
So you're telling me the three wires are TRIGGER wires, and NOW i have to supply the POSITIVE SIDE of the COIL of the LEADING with a 12V SWITCH ie, IGN1/2? Please re confirm Thank you.

Jacobcartmill,
I will try soon, if i don't have a bad ECU.

Thanks... i will give it go when i get off of work later this afternoon.

On the install, I totally just cut off the harness clip onto the ignitor/coil connection to the LEAD COIL, and solder the connector to the E6K, where instead I should have splice into it, and that probably had a SWITCHED 12V.

Thanks again C.Ludwig.

Is it me, or did NOBODY notice that the fuel mode was set to sequential here? It should be STAGGING, with ign/by 2.

That would be a problem. You need to supply them with power.

Thanks again Claudio.

I will go change my settings and supply the coil with a SWITCH 12v.

Alright, just got back from my lunch.

I got a SWITCHED 12V source to the POSITIVE lead of the LEAD COIL from the original harness NOW!

I have changed the previous setting recommended eariler.

But the car didn't fire up. I wasn't able to check for spark since i wasn't able to get help. I looked at the CAS wiring, and i must of been drunk that day or something, but my connection is so freakin off. Once i get off of work, I will rewire the CAS.

What a day of BS.

I rewired the CAS accordingly from a post from teamfc3s.org.
Both of my coils are get 12v.

But as the result of today is... NO SPARK!

I have checked my three wires that is going to the ignitor and coils and rechecked my connection on my CAS and everything looks correct.

I want to double check my INPUT/OUTPUT setting on the E6K with you guys. Here is my setting:

Trim Control: IGNITION
Spare Input Func.: IGN TRAILING
Aux IN Func.: DISABLE
Aux OUT Func.: IGN. TOOGLE
Extra INJ DRIVER 1-4: DISABLE

I'm starting to believe I have a ECU. But according to the the guy i bought it from is GOOD.

Can you post your connections to the coil packs?
The +12VDC goes into the ignitor and not directly to the coil post, right?
It should be like tan or pink?

Well, I posted it on the LEAD coil "+"

So, i take it i should have made the connection to the pink or tan of the ignitor?!
