Heading to the dyno
Well, I am heading to the dyno and I need some tips for tuning. I have a VERY rich map with timing that is spot on. I really just need the basic idea behind tuning. Is it just get the A/F ratio to 12:1 while under boost? Any good writeups on this? Am I forgetting about anything?
Here are my pertinent mods:
1988 10th anniversary turbo RX7
Haltech E6K ems
Walbro 255 l/h fuel pump
720 cc/min primaries and 1600 cc/min secondaries
-6 AN fuel lines
3 bar map sensor
Greddy Profec B
Hybrid 60-1 HiFi turbo
Any suggestions on what I need to do for tuning? I do not want to just pay someone to tune it for me, as I want to learn!

Yes, aiming for a 12.0 or maybe a safer 11.5 or so would be great. I found that if all of the bars at a certain range needed adjusting I would drop them all by a percentage to make things quicker since dyno time is not cheap.

How many loads for each rpm did you actually test? And, how many did you just linearise (make a straight line between 2 set values and raise/lower the bars to that point)?

i helped turborotor tune his TII with E6K on the dyno. you can start by adjusting the bars where you are hitting max boost then select bars preceding it and hit alt-l to linearize it. you will have to do some fine tuning on the street but you should be able to get it safe and just about 90% tuned on the dyno. speaking of which i need to hit the dyno again and actually tune my fuel maps instead of just the electronic boost controller
