Has anybody used the Haltech Plug-n-Play patch loom for RX-7 FC's??

Hello all, like the tittle says, id like to know if you guys were aware of the plug in loom Haltech has for S4/S5 RX-7, and hopefully soon the S6 and what was their opinion on it.

If you didnt know they had it, here is what they look like.

- Series 4 for E8

- Series 5 for E8

With the Series 5 its setup so that you use the stock map sensor which is a 2bar, and the stock intake air temp. sensor on the throttle body. On the Series 4 there is an additional connector on the harness so you can use an external map sensor and the Haltech air temp. sensor. In both cases the stock air flow meter can be taken out.

seems like a nice and easy way to do it, but what fun is that?! I think one of the greatest things about a haltech is the fact that you can get rid of all the crappy 20 year old wiring harness.

Yes, you are right, a full new wiring harness is ideal with these cars, i have seen some well kept examples of FC's with good condition wiring harnesses.

I just thought i'd let everyone know they exist.

Only thing I don't like about the patch harness is that all of the aux outputs are accounted for in the loom. Doesn't give you much of an option (other than to hack up the Haltech harness) to use the nifty features of the ECU. I'd love to see something similar but with all the aux outputs left unterminated to give the end user the option to use them as they see fit.

Well, what i've found you can do is basially get the patch harness and instead of the E8, get the E11v2, and ask Haltech to send you extra pins so you can wire up those additional options to what ever else you'd like. The patch loom will work with an E11v2 even though its made for E8.

E6K and E6X have a few pin differences in their pinouts.

I've been using these kits as of late and they have worked flawlessly. The build quality of the 'patch harness' are not equaled by anyone else on the market.
I have not used one on a rx-7 but the first application I use it on was a MKIV Supra and I just finished a Nissan Skyline R33 with one and it did the job perfectly.
Have to agree with C. Ludwig in that Haltech should at least provide some extra pins so you can control or use extra outputs in case it's needed. For example on the above application I had to wire in the cooling fan, shift light and the check engine light seperately. Luckly I have some extra pins/plugs for the E8/11 laying around most of the times.

Hey guys, Haltech has no problem in sending you extra pins if you need them, just ask for them!

Zac, here's what we can do on the FD and FC harnesses, if anybody can send me an FC series 5 harness and an FD harness that would be in decent condition, that would be willing to sacrifice it i would dissect it and come up with a pair of replacement harnesses, the kicker is i will need to cars to test the harnesses on. Anybody in the area that would let me play so we can do these replacement harnesses??

Let me know.

You will need the S4 loom. The factory plugs are proprietary to the series so the S5 patch loom will not plug up to the S4 factory harness. Drop me a PM for pricing information.

these things work really well, we've been using em for years

the plan b, which we decided worked better for the s4's, was to just get the ecu side plug for the under the dash connector, and then use the hatech loom to replace the harness in the engine bay.

Hello, I just got a E8 but with the s4 harness, I have a S5 and was wondering what do the aux outputs control on the s5? I want to use the 3bar pressure sensor, temperature sensor and wideband from haltech and want to control my e-fan and boost (with the boost solenoid). Is this still possible? Or do I have to use my AVCR to control boost.
