Haltech Best ECU for me?

Best ECU for me?
Hey,
So I've done some searching around this section of the forum, and haven't found a decisive answer. Trust me when I say I only post when I absolutely can't find what I'm looking for by searching.
Anyway, my car is an S5 TII. I don't know if you'd consider it "heavily" modded, but its definitely far from stock. Here is my Mods List:

The list hasn't been updated in a while, but you get the idea. Everything that is listed there is still on the car, but just ignore anything I say about the Megasquirt.
I've heard from several different people that Haltech might be the best standalone for me to go with. Basically, my engine has reached its maximum output on the stock ECU, and I can't go any farther with the stock AFM. I also want a standalone for the precision tuning, and so the car will run smoother than how it runs with an SAFC.
I really don't know much about Haltech. I have a Megasquirt unit I've been trying to get working with my FC, but it turned out to be a crappy unit and a big headache, so I'm throwing it out and starting over.
Anyway, here are my questions:
1. I'm looking at a Haltech E6X. Is this good for my setup? I'm looking to run about 350-400whp, though my engine is capable of power closer to 500. I'd also like the unit to help my idle steady a bit, and maybe let it run smoother than it does with an SAFC.
2. How difficult is the E6X to install? My good friend who knows me well and has been working on and modding RX-7's for 20 years thinks I can do it on my own. He has lots of experience with Haltech's, but I'd prefer to install it myself as a learning experience, if possible. I've installed the vast majority of the mods on my list by myself, so I know my way around my car.
3. What all will I need for the install? The Haltech E6X Standalone ECU + Long Flying Lead Harness? Do I need to buy anything else? I currently have a GM Air Temp Sensor, Water Temp Sensor (Its an Autometer Water Temp Gauge), and Innovative Wideband O2 Sensor. Will all these work with the E6X? What other sensors will I need?
That's all I can think of for now. I may edit this or post more questions as I think of them.

1. personally id skip the e6x and go right for the e8, seems to be a better unit, and its got more "modern" features, like sequential injection and things like that
2. the haltech INSTALLATION is on par with doing a stereo install, or maybe more like 3-4 of em back to back. installation quality is important too
3. i think just the ecu and the flying lead? you'll also need a couple of connectors, for like the injectors and stuff. theres more you can buy, but pretty much thats all you need. the haltechs can use whatever temp senders you want, pretty much. e8/e11 are configurable.

If you have an S5, go with a Haltech E8 Plug n Play kit:
Best bang for the buck, uses stock Sensors, using the stock 2bar map sensor, or if you want to do a 3bar map you'll just have to splice onto the stock map/pressure sensor wires, AND you can get rid of the MAF.

One of the things I'm looking to do with this upgrade is tossing out most of the stock engine electrical system. If possible, I'd like to use newer or better sensors than the stock ones, because I'm not very confident in their reliability for the future. My stock harness and sensors have been through a lot in the past, including one very bad overheat (which melted some wires & plastic connectors). To be honest, I have a few electrical gremlins right now, and I'm almost positive they're caused by problems with stock sensors/wiring, so that's one of the reasons I'm trying to get rid of most the stock electrical stuff.
Would it be cheaper to go with A) E8 plug n' play kit and replace the stock wiring harness & the stock connectors in the engine, or B) just go with an aftermarket harness and aftermarket connectors? Would it be way simpler to do option A over option B?
How does the E8 compare the E6X?
Also, I forgot to ask... How difficult is the software to figure out for these ECU's? For example, is it really complicated/difficult to set up sequential injection?

If you require a new harness than the Flying Lead harness is the option for you, realistically the E8 will be the best system of choice here, it has far better capabilities than the E6X, more inputs and outputs and more options.
I suggest finding a qualified shop that knows the Haltechs pretty well, its a known fact that a lot of people who've tried to attempt EMS installations for the very first time just get stomped along the way and its a lot harder to get it done later on, so i suggest you find someone with experience that will do the job right the first time.
Haltechs arent hard to get to know, but the first time is always very complicated. I also suggest you download and throughly read through ALL the documentation on the Haltech website, that will get you familiar with the units in the best way possible. Read the manuals at least twice to make sure you will know what the units offer and how to set everything up.
I suggest finding a qualified shop that knows the Haltechs pretty well, its a known fact that a lot of people who've tried to attempt EMS installations for the very first time just get stomped along the way and its a lot harder to get it done later on, so i suggest you find someone with experience that will do the job right the first time.

Is there a cheaper place to find it? What sensors will I need? From what I can tell, it looks like I need aftermarket Air Temp, Coolant Temp, MAP, TPS and Wideband O2 sensors. Will I need anything else? Will the Long Flying Lead Kit come with whatever is necessary to detect ignition, injectors, etc?

yep thats the harness. imo, the stock mazda harness is really made very well, most bullet proof would be mazda harness to the adaptor to the e8
the haltech can run any sensor you want, they do have different connectors, so now is the time to buy new/different ones if you want.

Ok, new question(s). Does the Haltech E8 care what impedance injectors I use? The upgraded Bosch injectors I have are low impedance. I assume not, but I know the stock ECU does care.
I just found this: http://www.hitman.hm/installation.htm Is this basically correct for the E8 as well? Specifically, I'm concerned with making sure I understand how to wire up the fuel injectors and ignition.
When its talking about wiring up the CAS, do I need to splice/tap into the 4 wires? Or do I cut them and wire them directly to the Haltech?
Also, in the "ignition coils" section, where exactly are the wires it is referring to located?
Oh yeah, I've read through the E8 manual and all the wiring diagrams supplied on Haltech's website.

2. Common points are correct but be care of wires color. E8 is more advanced unit. You can use all of 4 ignition outputs for direct fire.
3. You can cut.
