Haltech in my rx-8

Hi guys been searching without answer sp here it goes. Will a Sprint RE be able to control my drive by wire on my rx-8 rallycar. in other word will the flyeing lead kit be all the wiring i need to control the engine ?
I really want to get rid of all the original engine and body harness and the many many ecu´s

Best regards Rasmus Andersen Denmark

No. The Elite 1500 and 2500 are the only Haltech ECUs with DBW control. Choices are to convert to cable throttle and run a lower spec ECU or use one that is DBW capable. We've done a couple RX-8s DBW setups. Let me know if you need help.

i should point out im in Denmark and its a 4 port 192 hp engine im using thats the most common here so there is alot less stuff to control with the ECU
all right ive been rallying my 1979 with carbs for some years now and are stepping up to the rx-8 and wants to start using EFI. ive allready taking all the wiring and ecu´s from the car. At first i wanted to use stock everything but then i startet doubting the stock ECU and im a little concerned it will be a never ending trouble shooting when alle the abs and other ecu´s are gone.
I want everything to be as simple as possible so thats why i think the Spring RE sounds the best.
Is it correct to assume that the SPrint RE will run the engine from the beginning with a base map provided frome haltech that only needs some tune on a NA with just a street port?.
By the way the stock engine and body harness with ecu´s and the fuse boxes weigh about 50 kilos.

The Sprint RE will work. But I would highly recommend using one of the Elite ECUs. The Elite 550 is very comparable to the Sprint RE and is similarly priced. The Elite 750 adds on board data logging, which may be useful for you in a competition environment. The automated injector staging alone makes the Elite ECUs much more appealing.

The Sprint RE is based on the older architecture of the Sport series, which has its roots in the old E8/E11. The Elite series is a clean sheet design which was introduced about 2 years ago and incorporates a number of advancements over the older ECUs. The Elite 550 is simply the next generation of what the Sprint ECUs were.

the sprint RE has been out for a few years, and elite 550 is new.

how the hell did you fit 15" wheels on an rx8? or can you find 16" rally tires in Europe?

That's a good question I actually didn't think I would be able to fit 16" I'm going to run 18x8 Tarmac rally tires in 225/40 r18 that's the WRC size tires I have run 2 dirt rallies each year and that's just plain fun I'm using Nokian winter tires for those 2 rallies.
I was planning on running 17" but that's was before I found the 5,3 rear ring and pinion.
also there is economic and availability reasons for running the 18's

ahhh tarmac rally makes more sense then. That is why I went to FC for a rally car because you cant fit 15s on an rx8 because the suspension links and knuckles hit the barrel of the wheel, even on BRAIDs...

the rx8 brakes are as big as evo brakes

Have you tried removing the calipers and maybe disc to se if the 15 would
fit? Because if it's not hitting any suspension parts the discs could just
be milled down and a new set of caliber it's done ?
