Are you certain that David's set did not have both the 'main' and the 'cam' arms shortened by an equal amount?
It's a real shame that David's original 'sleepy eyes' thread is not accessible any more, (well not by the likes of a pleb such as myself anyway), so this could be checked.
Maybe you could get in contact with him?

Just answering my own question here.

I keep checking this thread because this is my favorite headlight kit for the FD and I'm sick of being blind at night with my stock lights. Plus I have a few bucks set aside. Got any pics of the cut-off? Hi beam and low beam pics pics would be killer!

Sorry for the 2 in a row. Cant edit for some reason.
Anyway, I saw this on a different club. Maybe helpful if all else fails.

Not sure how or why that would be helpful, so i did a little wiring change to their directions. Instead of tapping into the Yellow wire at the controller (pin 11) which is the 'headlight down signal' i located the Blue 'headlight up signal' wire (pin 7) and spliced into that. Now the headlight controller works as i thought should be intended..when you turn the headlights on they come up to your preset level (you have to play with the adjuster dial on the Pivot to find your position. and when you turn the headlights off, they close as they should when the lights are off. Keep in mind those color wires/pin#s are for my model-91 turbo without light retainer circuit. If your gonna try this on a different year/model/canadian/etc, check your wiring diagram for Headlight Up Circuit and connector pinout.
This now makes it ideal for guys with rev6, or any other custom low rise setup. No need to play with the headlight motor, or the adjuster rod, or any of that crap. Just splice into 1 wire, one 12volt connection, and 1 ground. Easy peasy.

sorry to say this. but they dont realy look that sleepy. i made a set of shorter arms (2 for each side) and got them to go down much further (100% horizontal). would be awsome if you could make a kit like that with a carbon cover like that.

Honestly, and I'm sure that I'm the minority here, but looking at the way the lights meet up with the hood while ON. I kinda like the stock as apposed to the sleepy side. It just seems to mate up better. Less gap.
I LOVE the dual beams and the potential to throw out tons of light, but for me, the sleepiness comes 2nd to output. Sleepy eyes are cool and unique and stuff, but we 3rd gen RX-7 guys NEED brighter headlights 1st and foremost. That's why I'm paying such close attention to this thread.

Too Many Projects

So are the shrouds on these smaller in overall size than the stock ones?
Reason I ask is I want more clearance to my oil coolers/lines and the biggest interference are the headlines in the close position. I thought about running a sleek light kit, but I really prefer the look of the pop-ups.

thats not paint....
The idea of brighter light output and a projector is awesome. I have been checking on this build for a while. But the positioning in the following photo looks a bit off. The lights look to have more shroud on the top side and outside corner. Looks a bit googly eyed to me

That is due to the angle of the picture. its the portion that wraps around the side making it look that way.
