MN GB: 347SS Investment Cast Tapered BorgWarner EFR IWG FC3S Turbo Manifolds

We are now in the process of making 347SS investment cast BorgWarner EFR IWG Rx7 turbo manifolds. These will suite the 7670 T4 .92 IWG Borgwarner turbochargers for the LHD 13BT engines in the FC3S chassis. If one is so inclined to modify their waterpump housing inlet pipe on their waterpump housing the bigger 8374 and 9180 will then fit. If one is running a REW engine or waterpump housing no modifications are necessary for the bigger turbochargers. Twin Exhaust gas temperature, or exhaust manifold back-pressure bungs are also cast into both runners. All threaded portions are being rolled before the entire manifold is heat treated. The entrance to the runners are the same inner diameter as the exhaust sleeves, and taper as their reach the T4 flange. This process is not possible with your traditional welded turbo manifold. These will out last and out perform our current welded design. Lifetime warranty for original purchaser also! We should have the first 5 samples in 7 more weeks, then shortly after 30+ manifolds. There is no longer ANY reason to pay someone else to make a copy of our current welded design.

Please bare with us as this is the first group buy we have ever done. Also note we do NOT have a concrete time-frame in place for receiving these. Please do not enter into this group buy if you are not 100% committed to following through. If you want a full kit we can obviously put you down on the list, as we are also in the process of mass producing our IWG turbo systems and by the time these are done will have 30+ worth of full turbo kits in stock ready to ship.

Here is the pricing for just the turbo manifolds per the group buy. We will also knock x2 this amount off per full kit for the group buy( $200 off per 10, $400 for 20, $600 for 30)

Bare manifold group buy pricing only( includes freight in lower 48 states)
1-10 $700
11-20 $600
21-30 $500

Full details for the turbo kit are here;

BorgWarner EFR IWG FD3S Turbo System

7670 EFR IWG turbocharger
Borg Warner EFR 7670 Turbocharger

This turbo system was originally developed for the FD3S chassis, and which is by far the fastest spooling turbo system available. Our roadcourse car on stock ports with E85 makes 31psi by 3400rpms. It makes the car feel like it has a 20B. See the above link for full details.

We will be updating our blog soon to reflect a better collection of information including all the dynos charts and comparisons etc.

Realistically how much better will this be than your current shorty? how much better spool or top end will we really see at the end of the day on say an 8374 or 9180? Im curious to what difference it will be. I know the cast will be thicker and retain more heat and the flow will be smoother but what will it net?

How much heavier is the cast manifold going to be than a shorty tubular manifold?

The welded units are under 8 lbs last I checked. I think the cast ones will probably be around 10-11 lbs. Not enough difference to be able to notice. Addition support is being cast into the main runners where they meet the engine flange. This will prevent the runners from cracking in the long run.

How much difference will it make over our current design? Only time will tell.

So these will be Cast stainless steel instead of a cast iron?

Will this be a one-time group buy or do you plan on having these available for purchase at anytime in the future? I'm waiting on the sale of a car before I can purchase.

Yeah, just like the exhaust housing on the EFR turbos.

I looked it up though, and cast stainless is actually heavier than cast iron.

I'm still very interested though... it's about time my car got a real turbo

We are only doing 1 group buy. However we will continue to make these instead of welding them from here on out.

We just discovered the 8374 and 9180 do not require any water pump housing mods. Just a few mm need to be shaved off the front runner to clear compressor cover vband...

I like the idea of a 347 ss cast manifold for it ability to retain heat. Will these manifolds still need a heat shield. If so why not an inconnel manifold? Machinability is slightly more difficult but not much worse then 347. Just a thought.

This is true, but due to 347 Stainless material properties it is much stronger at 700-900C range the engine operates at and is less prone to cracking.

This would allow you to engineer an equally durable stainless piece at a lower weight than cast iron (as in the BW SS exhaust housings) or in this case a very durable piece.

I am digging the whole simplicity theme these EFR turbo kits are heading in the direction of not to mention the performance potential.

I agree that the simplicity of this turbo system is very attractive. I have always wanted an inconnel manifold but the welding process of pre and post heating is very annoying. A cast manifold would not require any welding and machining is all that would be required. I would invest in a manifold that is the best the world has to offer even if it came at a higher price. Saying that inconnel may not be needed and I think turblown knows more about rotary engine requirements then I do.

I tried for Inconel out of the box, but the casting facility we use has never done Inconel.

really stupid question time, please forgive me. But, are you saying this manifold will work on an FD or an FC interchangeably?

We do not yet, but are working on it.

We are at 8 deposits.

Finished machined samples will be here next week. I have attached a photo of the mold..
