What type of shipping have you guys successfully shipped engine parts with?

This past month I have purchased 2 sets of rotors from 2 diferent forum members and they were damaged during shipping. I got great deals on these s4 na rotors, but they are now junk and we are going through the shipping companies to try to get everything settled. These engine parts are becoming endangered! haha.

Yes, that is a cardboard box apex seal my rotor ate when taking a big fall. The edge is closed up




Mazda should recommend if side seals groves are out of spec, just bang the rotor face to close gap, then file the side of the rotor flat again.

I'm hoping the shipping companies pay us back, but at the same time, make your shipped engine parts dummy proof!

Based on the pictures shown those damages are due to **** POOR packing!! I wouldnt blame the shipping companies for that... You can't just stick a rotor in a random box with some bubble wrap, that doesn't cut it.

The packer needs to really pad the rotor up (so its both cushioned, and immobile) and use a sturdy box.

I would personally take issue with the shipper, not the company.

That's poor packaging!
I normally bubble wrap each individual rotor,put them in there individual box
Then put both them in another bigger box that has been bubble wrapped an packed with shipping popcorn all around.never had any problems that way.shipping materials do add up in cost and is why most people try doing it cheaply with flat rate boxes and minimal protection and that's when this happens...

find a box larger than the parts, by at least 25%.

cut cardboard the shape of the sides of the rotors and tape them up tightly. cut strips of cardboard to shove in the sides and top/bottom of the box for added protection.

that's about the minimum for wrapping/shipping rotors. if they are damaged with that level of protection then the shippers are being malicious.

I've never had a issue shipping a set of rotors in a flat rate box, I double wrap the each rotor with cardboard and tape it tightly, then add more cardboard on all sides including the top and bottom, make there is no room for them to move back and forth.

yes, most problems come from people throwing the rotors right into the box with some crappy bubble wrapping, like that does much to protect 2 10lb rotors from smashing into one another.

shake the box, if they are shifting then the packaging is still too lose.

nothing you do will protect them from falling 5ft though, which it seems sometimes happens. shipping each rotor induvidually will sometimes prevent it, as they are easier to move by the employees. it actually only takes a fall from 6-12" to destroy a rotor without any protection, the tips being the most fragile.

The only way to ship rotors is with a cocoon made of cardboard and high density foam.

The guys i purchased the rotors from are taking care of me. But i really wish they hadn't gotten damaged. I got them at a great deal. I'm not in a hurry, so I'll wait for another good deal
