Help! Strange stuff going on!

Hey all, hopefully someone can shed some light on this one!

Yesterday it rained like crazy, I was driving and suddenly when I press the brake the stereo shuts off, release the brake, it comes back on. When it turns off you can hear the subwoofer go "thump" like a bass note then there's no sound.

The first time it did it just once then didn't do it again, I thought "thats strange" then I drive home on the highway get off at my exit, stop the car and it completely shuts off, all the idiot lights are on, wipers stop, its just dead. I try to turn it over and the key just turns, like no spark whatsoever. I wait a minute and try it again and it starts up fine like nothing happened.

Drove it home with no further issues, no speaker issues, 100% normal. I figured something got wet that shouldn't have.

I go out this morning and drive it to work, now whenever you hit the brake it does the sub "thump" and the stereo goes off again. Did it all the way to work. When I put the headlights up it thumps and the stereo goes off as well.

Any thoughts? As a side note, my highbeam switch went about a month ago and I've yet to replace that, not sure if that makes any difference at all.

Any help would be appreciated, It needs to go to the dealer for an oil change anyway, but I'd rather go in with some idea of whats going on versus them thinking "dumb girl" we'll over charge her

check your sub wiring
