Coolant seal
Alright guys I'm new here and new to the rotary world I just bought a 93 rx-7 runs but the guy I bought it from said it's going to need coolant seal work, would that be something I'd need a professional shop for or I'd be able to it myself in the garage???

There's plenty of good info from the FSM to videos by Aaroncake on YouTube, so you can get a feel for if it's a job you think you can handle.

If you have to ask, you probably want to leave it to a professional rotary expert. I'm not sure if you know, but that entails removing and opening up the engine.

And just a warning, if the engine has sat for a while with a bad coolant seal, there is the possibility of internal rust which could turn the engine into a corroded mess.

Failed coolant seal in a '86-02 engine could also mean a cracked side housing coolant groove, either as the cause of the seal failure or as a result of overheating causing the engine to get crushed by the tension bolts.
