I just picked this up. Was a Long drive, but kicked ass.. On the way back I drove through yellowstone park, the badlands national park, mount rushmore, etc - I'd never been to any of those places before so that was kinda neat.

it's a 1990 20B E-CCS. Needs a bunch of TLC (suspension work, some interior cleanup, and a paintjob) that I plan on attending to over the winter but overall it's an awesome car and is going to make a great new summer daily.

In case anyone is wondering, heavy car + auto trans + 20B = horrible fuel milage... in mixed driving in ontario I've been seeing 13-14MPG driving it reasonably gentle 95% of the time. On the highway with the cruse set at 110km/h for an entire tank of fuel I was able to get as high as 18.9 MPG. Which is 1MPG less than my 1978 ford pickup would get towing it on a trailer. Oh well, it's worth it because it's so fun.

As far as how it drives - it's got much more of a luxury car feel to it than a sports car. The closest thing to it over here is probably a Lexus SC300. I got to experience some twisty roads and while it's at home on them - an RX-7 with a manual transmission is more fun to drive.

I have a 1992 FD3S Touring X model that I imported from Japan. It has an automatic transmission and sunroof/bose stereo/leather seats like the North American touring model.

However, my question is about the suspension. I understand that the North American touring model came with a softer suspension than the R1/R2 models, and I'd like to know if this is true also for JDM touring models.

Does anybody know if the JDM touring models came with the R1 spec suspension?

I hated it, and wanted to swap it out anyways so it works. The damn thing would never let the rear end slide out. Once a tire started spinning, it would limit the torque on the wheel with traction. I build cars to be terrifying, not safe and in control. So I know i gotta get a better lsd in there, I'm trying to decided between the S4 and S5 styles tho, I loved the clutch type lsd I had in my 83. I've never had any experience with viscous types? I've read they fail easier. Which differential will let me drive like a moron; doughnuts and understeer?

Now that i have the FD running, there are still problems i need to fix on it. I do not have anymore time to attend to the FC, as all my focus goes to the FD. I either would like $2500 obo or a straight trade for a Honda accord or something in that nature. I need a car that i can reliably take my family out without having to do much maintenance on.

The FC has 163k mi on it and does NOT smoke on startup. Black interior. Clean CA title. Body is in decent shape with scuffs and dents here and there. Paint is original and in decent shape. Sunroof is starting to form rust spots. Passenger side seatbelt does not recline all the way back, i do not have time to take it to Mazda for the recall. Car leaks oil and coolant. I thought i fixed the coolant leak from a busted heater hose, but i still see drops overnight. Did not have time to locate oil leak. CEL light stayed on after i fixed the busted heater hose ( probably something i missed). The blinker CPU seems to be going out, because the left blinker will work on and off. Stock radio is going out and back speakers are blown.

I have put a little more than 2kmi on it since i've owned it. I just use the car to take me to work and back, and sometimes to some local meets. Certain members can vouch for the condition of the car.

Car is sitting on vert wheels. Has tokico blue's with HR springs all around. Mazdatrix short shifter with greddy knob. Has a bonez HF cat that has been gutted. Still have stock main cat. Radiator shroud. I converted the car to a 2+2 so i can have my daughter ride with me around town. I still have all the original rear black interior as well. Have the stock rims as well. Just take all this stuff, please.

This car is basically stock except for the minor stuff above. I had no intentions to really mod the car, because i just needed something to take me to work and back. I'm pretty sure i stated all the problems with the car above, if i missed something i will post it. I just want another DD, that i do not need to sweat on so that i can focus on the FD.

Some pictures can be seen in my photoalbum, i will try and post recent pics when i find time. If you are interested, just PM me. I have not been much active on this forum lately, because i've been very busy with work and shit at home. I check my email regularly.

Car is located in San Jose,CA

Hit me up, breh!

The track crew at Gateway International Raceway in Madison, IL, (led by Drag Racing Manager Rich Schafer), has already started an agressive drag racing facility improvement program for the upcoming 2010 drag racing season.

The track surface has been scraped, ground and leveled from the concrete launch pad transition point to the finish line. The asphalt from the end of the quarter-mile to the sand trap will be coated with an NHRA-recommended sealer which, among other benefits, will promote faster drying when wet.

Also, GIR employee (and track championship-winning racer) Dennis Gilliam took it upon himself to alleviate the traffic congestion which often occurs at the back (eastern) end of the staging lanes. After proposing changes in the staging lane design to Schafer, Gilliam extended each of Gateway's eight 400-feet-long staging lanes almost 125 extra feet using only a hand-pushed striping cart and a tape measure!

Said Gilliam, "During busy events, cars would be backed up to the fuel pumps at the eastern end of the staging lanes. That put cars in a curve to the north and blocked any view of open available staging lanes. If you walked around the corner and looked, there were often still empty lanes. Once one or two lanes backed up, everybody just lined up behind them".

"I spoke to management about it and they agreed with my idea", Gilliam continued. "I lengthened the staging lanes another one hundred feet out the back to the east. I also painted larger numbers at the end of each lane. That will give an extra twenty-four feet of turn area. Now, if one or two lanes are completely full of vehicles, the other lanes will have room to get by. I think people will get a better idea of where they are supposed to be".

Gilliam added, "Hopefully, we will figure out a way to post some signage back there to help drivers get in the proper lanes. I measured out turns and spots for signage. Racers will still approach the lanes from the north, as always, but in four single lines separated by barrels marked with signs for Lanes 1 & 2, Lanes 3 & 4, Lanes 5 & 6 and Lanes 7 & 8. As you turn toward the actual west-bound staging lanes, each will widen into two lanes. With the extra one hundred feet of staging and the striped turns we should accomodate forty to fifty more cars without traffic backing up to the fuel pumps. I also extended Lane 0 back to the fuel pumps. Lane 0 is actually an emergency lane and also offers access to the pits south of staging. I stenciled several areas with "Do Not Block" in that lane so acces to the fuel pumps as the southern pit area are not obstructed.".

Dennis also cautioned his critics, "Before you give me crap about crooked lines, the photos below show what I had to work with. It was a real high-tech operation! It's never a good idea to have the guy who limps be the one to push the walk-behind striper!".
