Fuel Tech EMS
Is anyone out there experimenting with the Fuel Tech EMS, Im in the market for a new EMS and Im stuck between the Haltech PS1000 and now the Fuel Tech FT-300 similar price tag. Pros and Cons on both sides.
I'll go ahead a post the specs on the FT-300

I don't understand why you are stuck between those two options. The FT-300 stats do not show any capability to control rotary engine split ignition, O2 input for closed loop or auto-tuning, air con idle, data logging, or CAN support. It also does not specify the tuning table resolution or the fuel injector resolution.
Are you building a V-8 drag car?

An ECU spec list like that is really much to base an ECU selection on. You need to look at the software and see what it's capabilities are. There are a few ecus on the market that can give those same specs.

^^ I know Lucimar Racing is using this EMS and squeezing over 1000 whp on a 13b. I like that it has the screen and you can see and adjust things on the go, much like the commander on a PFC.
The FT400 has everything that Evil Aviator mention pretty much the same as a PS1000 and you can run more injectors
Price difference is like 50 bucks

The display is a nice but, if it's anything like the PFC Commander, I certainly wouldn't look at it as a tuning aid. The display potential of the Fuel Tech seems to be pretty good though.
Of course I'm a bit biased, but I don't see it as being much of a comparison. The Sport specifically, and AEM, ViPec, and others in the price range, have much more potential for custom configuration. The Fuel Tech has no provision for auxiliary inputs such as wheel speed, aux pressures or temps, etc. It's limited to the 4 dedicated inputs.
The Fuel Tech uses the old Microtech tuning method before they brought out the more common matrix mode. I didn't mind it, some did. Probably not a bad thing, just different.
The Fuel Tech doesn't have high current injector drivers, low-ohm injectors require resistors or a driver box. Might not be a big deal if you're building a new fuel system and can opt for high-ohm injectors. The Sport 1000 can run 12 low-ohm injectors directly, with no resistors. The Fuel Tech can't do this. If you're using the high-ohm injectors Fuel Tech specifies with the Sport 1000, you can run even more.
The datalogging software looks nice. But with the base ECU only allowing a limited amount of channels to be input into the ECU, how much use can it be without spending more on the dedicated logger?
In short, $1799 for the Fuel Tech v. $1550 (street price) of a Sport 1000, or something similar, that does just as much or more, and has thousands of people using it as a support base isn't much a choice.

Ive seen the Fuel tech in action, and it looked like it was working really good. You get to a nice new harness, everything is on the screen no laptop needed. All the functions it has, is just awesome. There are a few rotaries going really fast on this system.

1991 Turbo II Convertible.
I purchased the FT350 last week and I'm in the process of having it installed with a Precision Turbo 7065.

Unboxing of FT-350. The distributor in Orlando tells me that I can use most of the sensors from Mazda. Glad I don't have to fork out anymore money....

I really need to subscribe to this thread. My convertible is fully functional with the FT350.
I love this ECU. You can have 5 different tunes with this ECU. Essentially you could buy an extra wiring harness, install it in another car, and run your 2nd vehicle with the same ECU.

1. Use 4 each LS1 Coils (Readily available at any auto parts store if you need to replace)
2. Use High Impedance injectors. I used 4each 1000cc Injector dynamics injectors.
3. If you want to keep A/C on the car buy the FT400.
Cool thing is that the ECU is detachable. Remove it from the car, stick it in your pocket, and no one will be able to start your car.

You can control split timing but not as flexibly as with some other ECUs. Particularly, you can set one value for the split which would expand through the whole main ignition table (as opposed to having a separate split timing table with different values).

i just bought the fuel-tech 350.....what sensors do i need i heard ford sensors for air temp and coolant temp but what years...and im running 93 throttle body can i use the stock tps sensor....thanks
