well ever since the last event ive pretty much been jamming on painting my cage so its done for yet another event this weekend in memphis! this **** sucked and I would not recommend doing it. with that said, it came out AWESOME! I used dupli color perfect match rattle can and it laid down super smooth and clean. very happy with the finnish. The color I used is a cadillac silver from the early 2000's apparently. **** looks great and I love it!
first I hit the whole thing with 300 grit to get the surface rust off. after that I went over it one more time with 600 grit. then used some self etching primer.
then 3 coats of base and 4 coats of clear later and its done!
for someone who sucks at painting this seriously came out good.
also picked up another fender.
and put in my purple crows now that the finally showed up
still have a few small things to fix and then its off to memphis for TNSOD round 5!! Im gunning for a top for or better finnish so I actually bought new tires for the first time ever to drift on.. should be interesting. will report back after the weekend is over.

Like you needing to get a real diff and come to HPDEs with us. Just think of all the money you'll save on tires!!!
I need to come see the car soon, btw.

Memphis strikes again! last year I blew out the clutch pretty bad and only got to drive half the day.... well, this year the trend continues and the axle lets go on my first tandem pass. really lame since I got brand new tires for the event and both practice sessions I was feeling GOOOOOD. oh well. thus is racing right? throwing a new axle in the car and fixing some more minor issues for the final round of the Tennessee State of drift grassroots competition. REALLY hoping to do well since its a home track just down the street. we shall see. the event is in November so I got time to get the car to 100%
at least I got one good action shot from the weekend haha

took this thing drag racing today. that was interesting. it was a little 8th mile deal, but it was fun for sure. best time was a 9.1 at 82mph. not to shabby if I say so myself. it was very out of place among all the turbo muscle cars, and 1000 + hp GTR's hahah
also got to see my old 2.5 rs subaru for the first time in over a year... poor thing has had it rough it seems.
before
after....
no idea what the hell happened to it, but it was not good at all.
anyway, next drift event is in a few weeks so its crunch time to get the vert ready for the last event of the year! big plans in motion for the off season!

so after drag racing the rear end felt...... wounded. banging and knocking and all sorts of bad ****. today I pulled it out of the car and popped the case off to find this.
I guess it was a bit grippy out there hahaha! I already got another diff welded and ready to go in the car. just gotta clean it up and put my casing on it.

Well a little over a week ago we had the final round of the Tennessee State Of Drift grassroots competition at my home town track in Nashville. Ended up snagging a 3rd place podium finish! it was an awesome day to say the least! the week before I had a stainless 3" exhaust made for the car and I picked it up the day before the event. it sounded and looked amazing, but on my 4th practice run I initiated too hard for the still damp and cold track, looped out and slammed into the wall with the rear of the car. unfortunately the tip of the exhaust was sticking past the rear bumper by about 1" and it bent, and folded everything up to the turbo. luckily though the turbo itself was not damaged, so after a few zip ties to keep it from dragging on the ground, I was good to go for the rest of the day. still sucks that my racing beat downpipe and one day old exhaust got trashed, but hey that's racing right?
The scrape on the drivers side was on purpose shortly after because I was mad for hitting the wall haha
And while at the event a good friend of mine came out to shoot some video. next thing I know I mic'ed up and answering questions he had. turned out to be a really nice piece I think.

Offseason is here, and I have a lot of plans for the car so updates should be more regular for a few months as long as my budget doesn't get screwed!

Heyyyyyyyy, long time no update. not to worry, ive been busy! I got lucky and after another full season of thrashing, mechanically, the car is still solid! which only means one thing. time to make it not look like a smashed up pile of mazda. fist things first, I got a set of pop up headlights for cheap to replace my one bent headlight.
lined up pretty nicely.
Then since the bumpers had both seen better days, I bought a box of cover your garage in dust!
The front bumper needed a lot of cutting, and trimming to fit around the FMIC, but now that it clears it looks great! side skirts and rear bumper needed little to no modification to fit. very happy with the quality of this kit! still gotta remake a front bumper mount and get some zues fasteners for the sides of the bumper so its not held in with just two zip ties.
looks pretty nice sitting on the ground again! cant wait to get some paint work done to it, kind of on the fence about weather it should stay black, for if I should go for another color. what do you guys think? the color I would want is the same dark metalic green as my old rx8. if the price is right for a full respray that may very well happen.

Soooo I was suppose to be painting my car this weekend but ended up getting in a pretty bad accident instead.
im ok now thankfully, but basically I went to a friends place to chop up my trailer fenders so they would flip up and I can open my doors properly. well, he has a few badass toys on his property including but not limited to FD cars, and a polaris RZR 1000. I had never been in an RZR before so he said we would go out in it once we finished working on the trailer. long story short, no helmets were worn and no harness was buckled, and we flipped it big time. he broke is collar bone and smashed his head on something, I got 3 broken bones in my face, a gnarly black eye, and a huge gash in the back of my head. 15 staples later and im home recovering, as is my buddy. we are VERY lucky to come out how we did and I know I will never get in a side by side again to say the least. we were being total morons and got lucky all things considered. im out of work for a few days and so progress on the car will slow down until I can get back to work. I still plan on getting the car painted before the season opener of State of Drift in the middle of April so keep an eye out for that!

Had another awesome event in the car this weekend! we had round 1 of the 2015 State of drift competition series here in Nashville and Id say the season started off great for me. I was able to qualify first place out of 18 drivers! advanced from my top 16 battle into the great 8, but spun on initiation on my first lead run. went all out on my follow run knowing I was pretty much gonna loose anyway, and put on a show for the spectators getting very close to the lead car. even though I got knocked out earlier than I would have liked it was still an amazing day and it was nice to show off the cars new paint job! sitting 5th overall in the season standings so I gotta bring it for round 2 in july. heres a few photos form the event.
heres a video of that chase run mentioned earlier!
and some in car from a ride along I gave at the end of the day.
next on the do to list is a new clutch because after 3 years my exedy stage 2 is starting to feel soft. gonna get another one because that thing has taken a ton of abuse and is only just now starting to go weak on me!
