Surge tank etc.

Ok, im going to make a surge tank setup.
I have an aeromotive stealth 340lph in tank.
Thinking of buying a 2.5l surge tank and use a 044 as the external pump.
What do you think?
Its proper?
I would like to know your thoughts.

Why do you think you'll need a surge tank in the first place?

Ive never heard that to be a systemic problem with FC's but unless you have the resources or the need to have a surge tank(professional drift events). i would just keep the tank full when your sliding.

yea just run a stock pump in tank. run those lines to your fuel cell that has the high flow pump.

the in-tank pump can just be a stock turbo 2 pump or an NA engine pump

some people run carburator (spelling??) low pressure pumps that put out lots of flow. it isnt highly pressurized untill the after the second pump hits the fuel pressure regulator

the return needs to go from the regulator back to the fuel cell and then back to the tank

oh yea... and aftermarket lines as well. It is going to be pretty expensive with all the AN fittings and what not.

I have just installed a holley dominator dual pump in-tank, with -8AN lines feed and return, using a turbosmart 1200 fpr (BLACK: TS-0401-1004) and NO issues with fuel slosh really. i keep it pretty full

The stock fuel tank has a small holding tank with a hole.

If you wanted an easy fix, you can make a holding hat and divert the fuel return into the box.

Im currently making this, It will be a very easy solution and will cover most fuel slosh problems.

stock or modified, you don't want fuel slosh issues. So if your local track has some high speed left hand turns, a surge tank / anti slosh / reservoir is a great cheap idea.

The FDs have a nicer fuel sock tank, and they make a nice cover that works very well. Unfortunately the FC tanks don't have the best fuel pump pick up design.

there are many solutions posted in this thread.

You can use a stock pump and run that to your aeromotive in a surge tank

you can modify the swirl pot located in the tank to help with slosh

you can just keep it topped off all the time.

i wouldnt go with a 10 gallon fuel cell as it is small and more work required, just build a surge tank with your aeromotive pump inside and buy some -6 AN fuel line to run to and from the engine and fuel tank.

Great thread showing the inside of a variety of RX7 tanks!
My solution (1986FC) is to mount this under the hood, attached to the shock tower area.
Using URO brand pump inside a 1.5 liter aluminum tank ($45 on ebay)
