Got some used 245/40/17's on it for now. Just to make sure I don't have any traction issues since I'm still tuning. Once it's drift ready though, Ima throw on 205's or 215's

Any who, onwards with the build!

Got this awesome piece of JDM-ness. Taking it old school!

APEXi E.R.O Flasher
"Easy to Operating on LED Dial"

and plug and play GReddy Turbo Timer hareness that Ima use on my HKS unit.

Yes sir. Won't be ready to pull the trigger for a while. All I have right now is a motor. Still gotta rebuild it, port it, drop it in etc.

Rtek 2.1
Huge street port
550/750 injectors
2.5" turbo back

Everything else stock until around Christmas time. At which point, I'll throw in an s360, front mount, and bigger injectors

Trying to keep it simple for now, at least for the first couple thousand miles

Damn, if you go with the stock turbo that thing is going to be werkin'. Gonna end up being a huge restriction for a large street port. Oh and for injectors, I have some 700's I'm trying to sell, check out my for sale thread on those, shoot me an offer.

On-wards with the build!

Finally got a new brake master in there. It's been iffy ever since I got the car, it had been on it's way out but worked perfect 99% of the time. Now I should be able to lock up the wheels on command!

Then I decided to keep working on the car to take care of a leak that had come up. The o-ring to the LIM decided to give up on life so I took care of that.

Also made sure to use silicone on the paper gasket as well.

And a good buddy of mine hooked it up with his back up S5 turbo, so that I could use the manifold and more importantly the turbine housing w/ ported gate.

Got it all back together and tuned it some more, touched up the fuel map and actually ran out of gas. So i went out and put a good 7 gallons in it. After test driving it with the new turbo set up, boost creep wasn't as bad. Before with the S4 I'd get 3-4 psi by 3200 RPM on an open wastegate. Now with the S5 set up, it barely reaches 3 at 4000 RPM.

Yeah I know no money for a decent turbo though..

Luckily I'm not power hungry right now. Plus it will help me not destroy the motor during the break in.. I'm only planning to push 8-9psi at first.

Don't worry though, I'll get a nice turbo eventually.

Nice sounds like a solid plan.

---
My vision is nearing completion as far as the interior goes. Got a splined quick release in the mail and installed that thing as soon as I got home.

Super Rad, kinda a pain the *** to line up compared to the JDM Sport one I had, with the locking ***** and what not, but not many ppl have it and it just looks cooler I think

And I just like the extra hardware that's shown, gives it a more 'because racecar' feel.

Also these damn 17's are growing on me, kinda wanna get another set of 4 and just run 17's all the time as apposed to the 15's I have.

Got a manifold in the mail also for the 2015 rebuild. Gotta go ported w/ a larger turbo and Vmount, so why not throw in an FD UIM.

And one last bit of news. Got a trailer finally, definitely bigger than what I needed but for the price I got it at, can't complain.

Made some good progress on the tune, even drove it down to work, which is a good 15 minutes away. Drove freaking awesome, can't wait to dyno tune.

In other news, in case you guys haven't heard.

Man, Putting together a video doesn't take too long, but it takes forever to process it and what not. It's finally done though! A week later lol

It definitely has. I still miss the simplicity and raspyness of the side draft though. Gonna have to build one up again sometime in the future.

Haha yea, it kept getting harder and harder to maintain clean since I'd stick my head underneath the car like every other day.

No need to be jealous tho, its a pain and a half to get this thing tuned.

Been Too Long!

Been working on some crazy stuff lately, including helping a buddy of mine set up his Microtech! Also wired up all the stock gauges to work.

And as far as my car goes, it's close to being 99% ready to tune. Been trying to figure out why I read more pressure at certain ports than I do on others, so I've been having to deal with re-routing vacuum lines and such. Also, got my China turbo blanket on and have test driven the car a bit. So far I can't complain, the real test will come though once I get is on the dyno, see how well it does with the heat.

And just this week, I also started working on the mini FC, got it as a gift from the Ms.. I'm hoping to match the color to my TII, although it came out a tad green so Ima re-do it with a black primer base.

Got a few test runs in today and plug in my data logs to Virtual Dyno.

Getting good numbers to the wheels w/ it so far, as long as it's accurate I think I should be close to 300whp once it's tuned.

Made some decent progress this weekend. Got my new clutch disc installed and went for a test drive. It's not as aggressive as I would've thought. People always complain how grabby they are or how they make the car to responsive but I fell like I could drive this everyday.

And it definitely holds the power now. Hopefully this can last me for a year till I go TII.

And here's a quick vid of the test drive that my buddy filmed.

Also, we finally got my friends FC all finished up. It seems to be working really well so far and the diff looks to be working perfect. Under acceleration you can see the diff locks up but at a steady cruise while turning it does slip a bit, should be great on the track.

And latest little project for the FC was setting up a flat tow bar. I picked this up for cheap at the China tools importing store, AKA Harbor Freight, and took a cutting wheel to it right away.

Thing looks like it should work great, now I'll be able to two it with a crappy V6 truck if I have to. Not as ideal as the trailer but why not have more than one options. Plus it'll save me gas.

My understanding is that you want the wheel to be the flattest at like 50-80% angle since you will spend the most time there, and will likely only be at full lock in short bursts, which doesn't really necessitate full contact patch at 100% lock. :X

Do you have a video of it going from dead center, to lock?

I can't remember what the camber settings are but you basically got it as far as what kind of contact patch you'll be looking for. We aligned it w/ very little caster or camber on the top plate, we basically have it adjusted to be centered I think.

But you can kinda see from the video, the wheel does stay mostly flat. I'll try to see if we can look into this today and get a quick clip.

Dyno Tuned!

Well been pretty busy trying to finish up different things and get ready for the dyno tune, so hadn't been able to post any updates. Here we are though, all finished up and running like a champ now.

Got some fresh Achilles tires, 235/45/17 for my 17x9.5 Rotas. Sit really well and fill up the wheel well real nice.

And so me and my buddy went to RRR in Santa Ana to get dyno tuning with Nelson S. Legit dude, and definitely got the job done.

260 peak horsepower to the wheels, what more can I ask for. Especially considering I have a stock S5 top mount intercooler.

Next up though, before I go to the track, will be water injection. At the end of a dyno pull, air intake temps would go from ~105*F to 165+*F. I'm doing research on a simple injection solution that I hope will work. Don't have the money right now to but a progressive water/meth kit, so instead I'm going to piece one together and use the EMS to kick it on or off.

I know right, only crappy thing is the air temps get up there.

But boost is basically at stock gate pressure but I get boost creep. Starts at 6psi at the beginning of the run and creeps to 10-9psi. The boost pressure follows the torue curve and by the end of the run its at 8-9psi and air temps soar to 165+ farenheight.
