Finally time to yank this motor, and get crackin. Seriously feel so weird to know the next time it runs, it'll actually be sorta fast.

Yanked the motor today, de-greased the bay, and took the oil cooler to the car wash and pressure washed it. Was going to drop the new block in today, But had to switch out the front cover, And oil pan. Also need a pick up tube, because it was missing

My buddy Elvin showed up in a real 100% stock 180sx. He's a dealer so he gets to drive whatever the hell he wants, whether it be an r32 GTR, jzx100, or Silvia. He always shows up in cool ****.

Aaaaaaand the outcome. Used regular enamel with high heat clear. Wondering if it will last, and honestly don't care too much. It will at least look cool for a little while

Today, John Vargas from Angel Motorsports donated a thermal pellet thing. And even threw it in ^_^

We also snaked the chassis harness back through, and secured everything with nice new zipties

And the end of the day, finally got the block in. I'd say we're moving fast, since this is only the second day of work, and both times we ate 1/2 the time, and bullshitted. I also need to make a trip to mazdatrix and buy a bunch of bolts and nuts and random bits that I'm missing.

Couldn't find my oil feed lines, so I figured I'd go AN from the get go. gonna be upgrading the turbo Pretty soon anyways. Just the feed today, tomorrow I'll do the return.

Oh yeah, I didn't get a restrictor, but heard of people using straight 4an with no issues, so I figure it'll be fine. Or hope, rather.

You're fine with that 4an fitting, journal bearing turbos require proper pressure. If it was ball bearing then it'd be a different story.

Well the car is smoking now. Wonder what it could be. Highly doubt its the oil seals so that only really leaves the turbo

my guess would be oil drain is getting backed up. is the oil drain on the engine lower then the turbo drain? if not that is your problem.

make sure its topped off on fluids and id say let it idle or drive around easy for an hour. Depending on the amount of oil and lube used during the build it can take a while for everything to burn off, especially if its gotten into the exhaust.

Fixed oil drain, no more smoke!

Also, car is fast as ****. Just having a weird break up issue in third. Not running lean, but when I mash it in third even at low rpms it just breaks up. Pretty weird

Only in third?

I have dramas with my N/A motor when secondary injectors kicking in and it starts to stumble and carry on until you get out of WOT.

Cool build, looks super aggressive!

How new are your plugs? Stock 7/9s? You may be getting spark blowout or a rich misfire. Stock plugs and 10psi on my 60mm turbo will miss at high revs in 2nd and almost anything in 3rd+ if I go WOT and into boost. My plugs are **** though. Gap too big and not enough juice to jump from the ground strap to the electrode.

Well I haven't really tried to get on it in 4th, 5th yet.

But yeah, I'm starting to think the throttle body mod has something to do with it, I heard it will make the car bog if you mash it at low rpm's. I could have misinterpreted a bog, for a misfire, or break up.

Yeah stock plugs for now. Gonna throw in 4 9's, and maybe boost + a little after these though. Only @7psi currently.

My car had a nasty miss when stabbing the throttle, like the accel pump function wasnt being done by the ecu even though the tps was set right. Had vacuum leaks, even though I didnt know it at the time. The body of the VAF itself and the orings of the primary injector diffusers/air bleed sockets.

So the car is totally Jist breaking up and detonating now. Drove it a little more today.

Not sure what's going on, but in any gear if you press the throttle past 25-30% it will break up. No matter the rpm, or boost, vacuum etc. Its almost identical to an OMP fault induced limp mode, but the omp is fine, and the car isn't in limp mode.

REALLY stumped on this one. Car free revs fine, it only breaks up under load, even light load.
