Question DIY Carpet Conversion?

I've got an '88 GXL and I'm looking to convert the interior from blue to black. I know there has already been a thread on this but unlike the other thread, I plan on doing the whole conversion myself. I've already got the door panels figured out and most of the plastic parts and dash painted. But I'm not sure how to go about the carpet. Does anyone know of a pre-cut kit I can buy? Any tips on the actual process? Or would I be better off just taking it down and having just the carpet done? I'd really rather just do it myself though because I live in kind of a shady area as far as automotive professionals go.

Mazda RX7 and RX7 GXL Hardtop Carpet

You can purchase 88 GXL carpet here. Make sure to order the mass backing option. It's around $200 total.

I just did my FD and converted it from tan to black. Love the way it turned out. The carpet comes molded so it is designed to fit. You will need to cut all the factory slits and holes in it but it's not a big deal.

The big deal part at least on the FD is removing the dash so you can get it completely OEM style. In the FD that is a pain. Not sure if you'd need to do it on an GXL though.

^ that is too bad. Mine fit perfectly so I'd say order for the source I listed.
