Good guy bad guy

Seems the posts for that section should be on mod approval.
When people start commenting its always followed by threats from the moderator for no one to comment. If that is the case why not put posts on moderator approval?
This will allow those who have a "dog in the fight" to comment after it has been approved.

I check in there from time to time, comment once in a while, check back and its always threats of banning if people continue to comment, this one is a fanboy, that one never used the shop, etc..

You have a good idea there Rob. Let me bring it up with the Mod team here and see if its doable.
Thanks for your input.

The one caveat here though is that if it does go to that format, the Sheriff is the one that will be deciding what posts get through.

And no, I ain't the Sheriff.

I understand the other side of it- people will think they are being censored or that the board might not post negative comments about a vendor.

The job that the mod has in there is not an easy one, and he already invests a lot of time in his responses. Wouldnt want to make his job harder but perhaps you could delegate another mod or 2 just to "screen" responses to keep the thread on track. A good example of this is the recent turboblown rx8 thread.
Still people would probably be hurt, guess there is no winning

Thanks for looking out for those of us that are slumming around in the feedback forums, lol...

Anyways, while I like the idea, there are two things about it that make me think it will backfire.

First, it will present a LOT more work for mods to screen each and every post. The average post in there is not a problem post, so the average poster, IMHO, is fine when posting in there. It's generally easier, at least for me, to see who's being a knucklehead and tackling it from that angle. When things get too crazy, as in the recent turblown thread, I will simply lock it and thats that. And if a topic needs to continue, I can always open the thread back up.

The thing to remember here is that for every issue we see in a public thread, there's a lot more work that I generally take on thats behind the scenes that most people never see. The Re-Speed thread going on right now is a good example--he refused to answer anything on this forum so I posted to him on FB, and suddenly he showed up quickly in here.

Second is the issue of censoring. We have some typical problem kids on this forum--people like joemaddox came to be in the past, that complain about the mods whenever they have the chance. I do not see the need to make more of them pop up. Frankly, I think we would cause more harm than good. I'm not above giving someone a week off if they cannot behave, but at that point at least we have their bad action to point to and say "look, you broke the rules". If we start making people think we are going to censor every post, it wont work out well for us.

This is just my $.02, but I do get a ton of positive feedback from that forum, and not just from people we help out either. A lot of our members have PM'ed me and told me that they appreciate the work we put in. Best of all, it works. I belong to other car forums, and with the only exception being SCCOA.com, the 7 club allows the least number of scammers to set up shop. Every one of you that helps out in there, I dont say it enough, but I owe you a huge thank-you. It may look rough at times, but believe me, its a lot more effective than it may seem at a glance. And one thing that people never seem to understand about me is that I can get "up in your face" on a forum without actually frothing at the mouth. People always seem to think that I am about to burst a blood vessel.....in truth, I'm cool with it. No worries. I'm 39, survived multiple bouts with cancer, was combat wounded, I own my own business, and to top it all off, I am the only dude in my house--surrounded by girls, and for most of the last 7 years, only had one bathroom.....yet, surprisingly, I dont have stress hahahaha

Thanks again for looking out, I really do appreciate it guys. But I just dont want to put us in a place of looking more like ***** than we are already accused of lol

probably right, easier to sift through after and not have people think they are being censored

keep up the good work

Thanks for weighing in with the thoughtful and well put opinions, rollr. I'll let the thread stay out a couple of more days for thoughts and then it's off to the archives.

My opinion is that if People think that their Comments/concerns will be censored it will make them think that Nothing will show, and not create a Bad Guy thread if there is a Problem.
The thinking is that it wouldn't be "big enough" to get posted.
And,If there is a problem it will go unmentioned. That would lead the "victim" to believe that the Offender can get away with it,as he has not "really done anything Big enough".

I'd like to leave it as it is,That way the Poster gets a fair shake and it is not in someone else's hands that the Problem doesn't warrant any Exposure.
Really,IF it is miniscule, then it can be Posted,Fixed quickly or actually Responded by Deletion,if need be.
I say that the only time the "big guns' should come out is after all the facts are UP on Forum.
The suggestion of moderating complaints is like Passing judgement before trial..the scales could possibly be tipped, before the facts come out.
Let the Section stay as it is,and let the chips fall where they may.

meant it more to moderate comments from people that have nothing to do with the transaction. Comments like "oh thats f'ed up" , someone else comes in defending the shop or forum member, the another one or two come in and join in then the mod has to come in and ask people to stop commenting or face a vacation.

didnt mean it to stop people from posting that their issue wasnt large enough, $50 to some people is like $500 to another a thief is a thief

Oh,Definitely with you on that aspect Rob.
Especially if the person commenting has not dealt with either party before.
And as far as the Amount aspect?..With you on that too.
