Vandalism in Calgary.

I doubt anyone here knows anything about what happened buf if you do please let me know. I wrote about it (with some pictures) in the following thread:

Reason to have a garage. (Vandals).

I think it happened around 3:00-6:00AM on Sept 23, 2005 Thanks.

What area of town are you located in? I've had vandalism troubles in the past with my RX-7's (and only RX-7s strangely)

I'm in the South East. Deer Run in particular.

A couple years ago a neighbour had his shop truck broken into and some tools stolen but other than that this is the first I've heard of stuff like this.

It was the first week I had it parked on the street. There are several other cars on the street but I don't know of any other incidents.

I went out to put the top up on my car (in broad daylight) and some girls were sitting in it.

Fourtunately, every compartment on a convertable locks up, so there was no issues with theft. And it was clean when I booted them.

I love Forst Lawn.

On another note, Im suprised my deck is still in my FC out back. My alley has a history of bad break ins. Truth be told (and Im not kidding), the key is to not lock your door. If they want in, let them. Cheaper to replace a stereo than a window(s).

I can't imagine just walking up and sitting in a stranger's car. I mean that's someone else car.

I know someone (in Calgary) who left his doors unlocked so no one would break a window when stealing his stereo. One morning a few years ago several windows were smashed down his street. They didn't touch anything in his car.

bah, fricken hoods! its seems to me that the gang crap started about 4-5 years ago. imagine this. livin in apartments behind lester b. pearson high school. go out on the deck for some mornin air, i see swat guys all lined up against the back side of the school doin flank patterns... im thinking i had a rough sleep. news confirmed it. turns out one kid stabbed another on the way to school... i baby my car like it was an enzo. specially in my new nieghborhood, woodbine. thankfully though, looks like 90% of them will be movin in the next few years. i was astonished at how many rice burners live here. you know, the ones with the backwards/sideways hats, listening to rap from the east indian dimension(no offence, i dont think the two musics mate well) scares me when i see a pack of stoned/drunk teens wandering at 11-12pm on a tuesday. i know what i was like!

I just finished replacing the door locks on the 1st gen we bought from Karla. Seems that a few weeks before we made the purchase she caught a couple of punks trying to steal the car. They ran like scalded cats when she yelled at them to get the **** away from her car, but not before destroying both door locks.

Leaving the doors unlocked may reduce the damage as these ****** break in, but it didn't work for us a few years back. We left a beater Nissan Micra parked in the alley for a few weeks.

We removed the stereo and all other valuables, then took out the distributor rotor so it couldn't be started. We left the doors unlocked and even left a polite "Dear thief" note for potential thieves that the car was unlocked, wouldn't start and had nothing in it worth stealing. (in fact, the entire car wasn't worth stealing but that's another story).

Anyhoo, one morning we found that some loser, upon finding that our note was telling the truth, had broken off the inside and outside rear view mirrors and keyed the car just for spite. Even though the car was worthless it would have warmed my heart to have had the pleasure of cutting off his genitals with a chainsaw and then stuffing them into his mouth and duct-taping them over.

Yeah, you can't leave anything out and expect people to leave it alone. It's just damn depressing.

I left my $300 sunglasses on the roof of my FC out back. 3 days later when I went out to look for them (thought I left them in the car) they were still on the roof, a little weathered. I was amazed. Im also amazed that my Pioneer deck is still in the car.

Yeah, I'm in the NW, no problems before. It's typically a quite neighborhood, never heard of any car theft on the block before. There was a party only a handful of houses down a couple weeks ago, I kept an eye on my FC all night (I was at home, my FC's always outside), but didn't have any trouble thankfully. I've got a decent Sony deck in there, so I hope nobody notices it >.> I always remove the faceplate if I'm gonna be away from the car for a little while.

Vandals and thieves are definitely one of the lowest kinds of criminals out there if you ask me. Jealous, bored, useless to society.... we need stricter laws on theft (i.e. cutting off their hands like they do in some countries =P)

Actually, chopping off a hand for a 1st conviction might be a little harsh. Let's just take an index finger from their dominant hand.

But for second offenses take the entire hand. If they're retarded enough to commit a third offense let's get an electric drill with a 3/4" bit and drill through both of their knees and elbows. This will render them physically incapable of stealing cars or anything else for that matter.

And don't worry--- they can still be put to work doing menial jobs like answering phones and punching keypads using a pencil clamped between their teeth. But their ability to become wealthy will be severely compromised.

And the inconvenience they suffer will be at least as severe as that which they inflicted on the owners of the cars they stole, but much more permanent. If this doesn't act as a deterrent I don't know what would. My heart would just bleed purple **** for these theiving losers.
