Sorry!! Haven't really done much recently.. yesterday I did some sanding on my recently primered pieces. All of the plastics are ready for sealer/paint/clear. Will do that next weekend.
I also started working on a door that had some weirdness on it. I swear it was FACTORY bondo/putty on the thing.. I second guessed it at first, thinking the car was in a previous accident, however.. the paint over the area was EXACTLY the same as it was on the rest of the car... flaking off the primer.. The last coat of primer over everything was contiguous... I even looked for seams where they blended the two together.. couldn't find it. I think the door was stamped out incorrectly and they had to blend the fender AND the door edge together.. so there was putty on both. After I got all of the putty off (which I shouldn't have done), I noticed how much it was actually filling.. It wasn't an accident or anything.. just malformed steel. I have another door on my parts car to replace it with.. but I think the amount of work to strip the red door down to nothing is equal to the small amount of putty shaping I had to do... all-in-all, there's not much putty on the finished door... I also insisted on using a high quality 2-part putty, not bondo.
I also got all of that rubber/tar stuff off of the inside of the door. the stuff that holds the plastic sheet on. I HATE that stuff.... so it had to go.. There's no nice way to do it, but if you are planning on re-painting... airplane paint stripper worked like a charm on that stuff. Wiped right off with paper towels. Cleaned the remaining bits off with wax/grease remover.
Anyways.. I realize those are shitty updates.. but updates non-the-less. hehe.

I have updates! Although, tomorrow will be the pretty ones (hopefully).
I got the plastics (bumpers, trim, door handles, mirrors) primered, sanded, sealed, and a first layer of paint on... however, I fuggered up the mixture and put WAY too much reducer in for the weather... I got wicked bad chemical pop, so I'll have to wet-sand everything tomorrow and try again... luckily, I mixed JUST enough paint for a first coat only.. So I'm not wasting a ton of color. I really hope its not as bad as it looks. But, here's some shiney pictures for you thread ******. hehe
More tomorrow. Enjoy for now.

You bought a gallon of color? Or is that a gallon when you add reducer and hardener? What is your ratio? Either way, that is a lot of paint. You might have to find another white car to paint black!
I bought 2 qts of color (PPG Concept single stage). At 4:2:1 that makes 112 oz ready to spray. I used 52.5 oz to spray 3 coats on my vert. Of course, I am only painting the outside of my car.
I am in the process of wet sanding with 1200 grit now, 2000 to follow.
Good luck!

Solvent pop is a harsh mistress.

Anyways. here's some progress, these pieces didn't come out nearly as well as I had hoped, but will wet-sand/buff out pretty well I think.
Well, thats it for tonight.. Doors are next... Then I finish up the unibody and its done! I can't wait for final assembly.. this crap is killing me.
I estimate when all is said and done, I will have used 3/4-5/8 a gallon of paint (unmixed)... Really is an insane amount of paint. If I have to buy more, I'm going to shoot somebody. hehe.
