Waiting on financial aid to hit so I can stop paying for classes and everything else out of pocket. Once it hits then I'll order the rebuild kit, and start the porting work or ship the housings to my friend for porting.

Update: Pulled the engine and transmission, the OMP lines were melted, it burned through all the oil, and going to rebuild the transmission as well with new gasket and seals and check all the gears and synchros while I've got it opened up, also grabbed the spare 5-speed from storage to tear down as well. Will be tearing down the last engine and possibly both transmissions this weekend and will update the photobucket album with pics

Lol. Finally decided to manual search for this thread. Found it.

Good pics, keep more comin! I like the direction (obviously, when I like AutoX so much), and you should video some events when they come around, unless your season is over.

Anyway, I found it, and I'll probably be trolling this page for lack of a better thing to do. Peace.

This project should be back under way soon, financial aid should be here in less than two weeks and I'm possibly looking at a few sponsor deals within the same time frame.

Financial Aid is now good to go, just one more week before I can collect the funds then wait for parts to ship. I'll be buying tools and cleaning parts and porting while waiting on the rebuild kit to ship. Will post pics and maybe a vid or two to go with the work

Picking up a TII engine with Haltech F9, two MSD 6A boxes and a FMIC at the end of the month, will post pics when I get it. It will be my Bridgeport project.

Pics of my new- used TII engine built by Redline Performance, it came off a sandrail and needs new apex seals and some light modifications but it's a start and a helluva steal for $500.

Also started a new job at a local shop last Wednesday so bear with me because between work and school and side jobs I don't have much time to work on this so it'll be slow and steady progress until I buy the rebuild kit and spend a whole weekend to rebuild an n/a engine to drop in and fire up.

Sweet! That engine's gonna be pumping when you get it up and running. Also, have fun polishing and sanding off all that rust.

What kind of numbers are you hoping for with the new engine?

Picking up my friend's GXL this weekend, it's a sister to my GXL and the production numbers are only 5,000 apart. Also picking up a project Kawasaki KZ1000 for $100. Ordered a Power Series header from CorkSport last night, and the new GXL comes with Tokico HP Blues with Tein springs, and a Bonez Catback system, short shifter, and working everything, except engine, blown coolant seals from them hardening because they're old. More pics soon

Sounds like things are moving quickly. Keep the updates coming! Not that I'd admit to being totally outclassed or anything, but watching a build like this is inspiring.

You're not totally outclassed, I haven't put down any times yet. But unfortunately after tearing down the Turbo engine I've come to find that one of the rotor housings is damaged and has a small chunk missing that is rough and also knicked the apex seal and probably threw the sediment out of the exhaust port after doing so. So to rebuild it I'd have to get another housing and match the porting. So what I'm doing for now is swapping the TII exhaust sleeves with the 6 Port exhaust sleeves and porting the n/a housings, I'll be using the TII intermediate housing and possibly the front and rear side housings but doubtful, though they would give great top end benefits I would be sacrificing low end torque. Also, new tires don't fit on the new GXL as I'd have liked and have to get 10mm spacers and extended studs for the front wheels, otherwise I'll be rubbing the springs, may also have to roll the fenders or go with aftermarket wide fenders. :/ more work and little time and less funds

Sounds like a rough spot. I hope you don't have to mess with the body for those tires...seems like too much effort for such a simple job. :/
Once the engine and the wheels are in/on, what else are you waiting on?

Nothing really, all the parts are in at this point. I've got a CorkSport header, GodSpeed radiator with Samco hoses, aluminum engine and transmission mounts, Atkins Rotary six port actuator valves, and a foam air filter from Racing Beat. I've got a case of Idemitsu 20w-50 and a case of Idemitsu gear oil. That's everything off the top of my head. Last thing I wanna do is get the exhaust ports reshaped for a large streetport.

Update: the rebuild was successful. The engine runs and it feels a bit weird lacking so much low end torque and I made a mistake during my rebuild. I ported my exhaust and it flows great, nothing wrong there, but I also beveled, ported, and slightly enlarged my intake ports and now have too much airflow to where the ECU can't make air/fuel corrections for the engine to start or idle. So now I've either got to install my Haltech E6X or F9, or I have to teardown the engine again and use my spare side and intermediate housings with stock ports to make it run with the stock ECU.

That redline performance engine looks weird to me. Counld it be that that thing was built for an other car? It looks like it was built for a rear engine car. A very interesting engine.

It was setup on a sandrail with a vw transmission, which is why the intake and turbo are backwards.
