Thanks fellas; means a lot. I didn't want to reply until I had an update, so here it goes. haha

I just purchased the trans this morning (JK41B) out of a '08 Nismo 350z which has the "high rev" VQ35HR engine.

"370Z 6sp Manual Ratios (same as late 350z and Nismo edition)
-- 1st: 3.794
-- 2nd: 2.324
-- 3rd: 1.624
-- 4th: 1.271
-- 5th: 1.000
-- 6th: 0.794
-- Reverse: 3.446
-- Final Drive: 3.692:1"

I'm thinking I might need a 3.08 in the 8.8 rear end. Currently, there's a 4.10 in it. Thoughts?

Awesome build! Can you let me know what you end up replacing roof wise? Obviously the skin and the center structure piece. Anything else?

Chips been to busy to do any work on the car. So , I've been buying parts here and there. BBK is also in the works, but lead time for them sucks. Hopefully, I'll have some updates on the car and BBK soon. Next big purchase will be Motec goodies. After that it's all fab and body work.

Full Function Engineering custom anodized fuel rails for (6) injector Xcessive LIM.

How is it I checked back in after all these years, and your car is even more apart than when I remembered?

PARTS UPDATE!

Since I already have the full carbon RE-Amemiya 05 ADGT front bumper, but I've always loved the 02 style with carbon undersweep as well; I bought one. haha I also sourced some ReadyGoNext reverse vents for my AD9 hood, RE-Amemiya canards, and an Espirit 1800mm wet carbon GT wing with gurney flap & carbon stands all thanks to the CarShopGlow guys who I visited last year. They were nice enough to take my wife and I around Tokyo to places like Daikoku Futo PA and Aqualine since we obviously didn't have a way of getting there by train. I've definitely formed a bond with those guys and would recommenced anyone going to Japan to check out their shop. It's easily accessible by train and just a short walk from the station.

Image from Espirit. The wing has a 4 month lead time, so I should receive it sometime mid-September. It's the one in the middle.

Wing installed on Toshio ‘Tommy’ Tomizawa FD.

Image from Atsushi Shimaya's Endless FD to show you guys how the vents look installed. I really want to propagate the necessity of increased cooling efficiency with my planned v-mount on the 20b. Hopefully, I can follow through with the proper ducting needed as well.

Also picked up some CarShopGlow V1 tails while we were in Japan, but never posted a pic on here.

Me with the CarShopGlow crew.

Thumbs up

Dude, you are stepping up your game like a BOSS

I can appreciate the funds being poured into this project...... my puny turbo two rotors with stock-ish bodies have been a huge undertaking over the years.

Way to hang in there and remain positive, once this sucker is on the street errybody better LOOK OUT

Rich, can we make it so you're the only one who is allowed to post in here? I like your comments. Honestly, I'm not sure I could convince the wife to let me have a 2nd FD, but I would love a stock body single turbo 13b. If it was half as clean as one of yours I'd be happy.

Just wanted to mention that I've been really disappointed with my carbon RE-Amemiya stuff. I also have an authentic AD9 hood and scuff plates. Along with those and this carbon undersweep there are significant defects in the carbon weave. There's no attempt to line up the carbon sheets at all. For the price we pay for this stuff I expect perfection, but since I plan to race it doesn't really matter and maybe RE-A is under that same mindset? Anyone else see this with their products?

I'm curious on the answer to the rear end ratio question too.

One more for you if you don't mind answering, stock FD driveshaft bolts right up or do you need a custom one? Also, are you going to try and get the SynchroRev auto blip feature to work on it or no?

I'm sure I'm going to need a custom driveshaft. Planned on picking up a carbon driveshaft from DSS, but we haven't got to that point yet.

The plan is definitely to hook up the SRM. I still need to find out what sensors on the clutch pedal, shift lever, transmission-speed sensor, along with what tuning in the engine ECU is needed. I plan on running a Motec M84 which I'm sure can control it. Lots of electronic work to still be done. Don't know if you guys know, but Porsche started using this particular nissan tech in its cars too. No need for heel-toe.

It's the electronics which scare the **** out of me too. I'll be tackling mine with an Adaptronic M6000 and possibly a Smartwire system in the next few months.

Very cool build, and we're only 5hrs away from each other! :P

My question on the 350Z trans swap is what to do to replace the power plant frame.

Hello Everyone,

Unfortunately, like most of us have experienced, I have come across a shop that has been great to deal with at times and equally difficult at others. Over the past 1.5 years of texting and calling Chip to ship my car back to me and receiving messages like "Sorry man, I just can't find good help here." "Next weekend I'll work on your car." and "I have to stay on top of my engine builds to pay the bills and can't find help to get your car out of here." I have decided, even though I'm not in a financially able place to go get my car back myself, or find a reasonable price shipper who can transport the car and parts for me, that waiting will get me no where.

The Good:
We all know Chip does quality work. I pre-paid for a lot of work to be done and Chip refunded that money to me. I originally sent my engine to Chip ( ~4 years ago) and he completed that work and sent the engine to me. I later (2.5 years ago) sent the entire car to Chip to strip the car down to bare metal, remove the sunroof and install a hardtop, tube the front, among-st a lot of other things. Chip did initially work on the car, stripping it down and installing the hardtop, which I'm sure he under quoted me, and appears to have eaten that cost in extra time it took him to strip the car. I've empathized with him for longest time now appreciating the quality work he has done thus far.

The Bad:
As I previously stated, I've been texting and calling chip weekly and sometimes monthly, for him to ship my car back to me. He's mentioned countless times that he's a one man operation and I understand and empathize with that. I would have never sent my car to him if I didn't trust him. Lately, it's been dead silent after he promised I would have the car back by the end of December 2018. Mod's I can send you the texts if you'd like.

In any case, I'm not here to bash anyone. I'm ok letting bygones be bygones and moving on. I just want my car back. If you're able to help me get my car back I greatly appreciate it. I understand everyone goes through rough times and don't expect anything.

Sincerely,
A fellow RX-7 lover

Sorry to hear that. Further confirmation that I'll never send anything to Chip that I care about or want to see again. Sad to say, you're not the first person he's screwed over. Typical amateur outfit that cant live up to their promises. He probably means well but doesn't have the ***** to own up to his shortfalls.

You should post in the good guy bad guy section.
