i wouldn't say that. the high temperature change still draws alot of moisture into the enclosed space in the tanks here. i find that most of the tanks at the wreckers here are completely rotted out compared to in california where they were almost always pristine.

So recap, if I wanna run E85 I need to:
- change my fuellines with ones made to run alcohol
- add about 40% to my dutycycle on my pfc
- keep an eye on my fuelpumpsocks
- premix with special oil

Some questions:
- can I still use my stock fuelfilter?
- any inline filters from bosch to run E85?
- can I use a mixture off 98 ron and E85?

No, you can't use the stock filter, canton racing makes an 8 micron filter thats compatable with E85. Don't mix 98ron with E85, you will be complicating and already complex thing,(unless your making your own E85). Get an E85 test tube and make sure that your ethanol level is consistent with every fill up. Premix with Klotz Benol, it smells great too.

Despite the warning, Its still better than the 91-93 octane I've been running, I'll just have to be a little bit carefull.

well, it's less of an issue since most rotary owners premix and you can run Klotz with the E85 which will put a lubricated layer on parts to help prevent rust and break down of the internal components in the fuel system. fuel sensors on more sophisticated EMS systems can curve fuel trims based on ethanol content, but it's still a rough system with current aftermarket technology.

partly why i still prefer the benefits of pump gas with lots of water injected over E85 and the range and flexibility it still provides. pump gas is stable and oonly varies a very small amount in it's contents and specifications.

E85 is cheaper than race gas but it is NOT cheaper than even premium pump fuel. price by the gallon yes, by energy content per gallon no.

now if we were blowing motors left and right even only pushing up to 25psi i might be more inclined to switch more vehicles over, but we're not. you can go a little higher with E85 though but the fuel system has to be overbuilt and the car tranformed from a daily driver to a weekend warrior that has to be trailered long distances.

Been running it for over two years now without any issues.
Putting down over 600 RWHP. That's all I need.

Great thread... as I'm thinking about running E85 on my new 20B project.... due to the turbo set up, I am not using my OMP... wondering what you guys do in terms of premix? what ratio would you use and is there specific premix you recommend??

I also did some search and some said 044 breaks down with E85 use... but here, I noticed most of you are using 044. If 044 pumps are doing well, then I'm planning to use 2 of them in my set up.

Very good info on this thread, am also going to be running on e85. I have a tank that has sump already made and would like to know if there there are other option besides the dual 044 for a 600 to 700 rwhp goal? The set up is for my 93 with s475

I haved been running 044s for a year with no bad effects. I've read they are methanol compatable, so e85 shouldn't hurt them. I run 1.5 oz per gallon of klotz oil. There is only a few oils that will mix with e85, so make sure the oil you use is compatable.

^^^ The 044's are methanol "tolerant", not compatible.

I have had dual 044's on my car for 4 years now and they still run like champs. I have also been running a little heavy on the premix ~1.25-1.5 oz/gal. I have been using Klotz BeNol since day one.

There are options to the dual 044's but the only ones worth trusting are expensive. The Weldon line of pumps start in the $700 range and are explicitly external pumps.

Same here, if you have a failure on a dual pump system you will run low pressure and go caboom verses a single which may just shut down the engine. KISS

Thanks guys for you input on the pumps. Good to hear that 044 will work with E85. Do any of you know if anyone makes a nice bracket for 044 set up for an FD?

+1 please respond Jerome. AFIAK you can not make that assembly fit without looped lines. It supposedly can not fit in the tank with hard lines. If you are able to make it fit that would be awesome because I have that same assembly and would love to run hard lines in the tank.

Hey John,

What do you plan to use for your lines running the length of the car? Standard braided line from summit doesn't say it's compatible with E85, so I'm looking for something else that I can use -6AN fittings with.
