good news finally. I used a friends map (I know its not a good idea) but it starts up and revs to 1700 rpm range and then dies. The throttle is closed the entire time so I'm assuming I have a vac leak some place as afr are in the 13-14.7 range?

Negative values mean the split is after the leading. If the split value is positive the trailing will fire ahead of the leading.

NEED HELP!!! I have the car idling somewhat fine. However, if i give it gas the engine cuts off at 1650rpms ish. Is this where my secondaries should be coming?

What can I check for in AEM Pro?

Depending on the map you may not get secondaries until you go into boost. what are your Air fuel ratios?

my afrs are 12.5-13 range.

Would my TPS play a part in this. I have a toyota TPS (4 wires) and all 4 wires are hooked up. My understanding is that the 4th wire is the idle switch.

It can. Depending on what ECU board revision you have it may make a difference. Does the throttle position read correctly in the ECU? You would want to disconnect the 4th wire on the TPS. You should send me a log and a copy of your map for me to review.

the throttle reads correctly. I have it adjusted in the ecu to read from .7%-98%. The map is just the base 1800 map from aem with different injectors/less fuel. When I was getting the log for you I think I tracked down the issue. I had a pretty bad intake leak. One of the intercooler pipes needs to be bent more to fit properly. I'm thinking that the leak was causing it to run like an NA engine which the map is not set up to do. So i'm going to get that taken care of asap and go from there.

Raise the min throttle to read 1-3%. If the throttle gets too low it will throw a throttle error and default to the MAP sensor for Throttle position.

If you take an intercooler pipe off the engine should still idle and free rev just fine. also if the map wasn't tuned for NA like you said you will see AFRs that are off significantly. I dont think that is your issue unless there is other information that I am not aware of.

Alright, so I adjusted the TPS and removed the Narrow Range TPS wire.

Here is my map (its a very basic map, just the fuel is tweaked and all my sensors set)
And log of it happening. When you look at the log at 1631 rpms the engine dies and it continues to log that its running for a second or two.

At this point I think its either the ECU or the Injector Driver. But I hope its just the map or something else I forgot to set. Fingers crossed.

Are you using the aem trigger settings? My car would nuts in the 1600-1800 band using the aem settings. If you search my threads Cody gives the settings to use. I also had a bad alternator cause trigger issues.

Thanks,
I went to try it today and I can't connect to the ecu. I get an "Offline" status. Tried different cables and pc's with no luck. Funny thing is, nothing changed. I plugged it in like i always do and nothing. I spent 4 hours trying to connect without luck. So i just emailed AEM about sending it in for service. I might as well before they stop servicing them at the end of the year.

I'll let you know.

I should have specified the car starts and idles. I'm unable to connect to the ecu. When I got my ecu the warranty stickers were broken thus voiding anything. But more importantly why was it opened up?

I would feel better sending it to AEM to make sure everything is good and all the jumpers are set correctly.

That is something you need to take up with who ever you got the ECU from. AEM has said they have stopped support for Series I ECUs. Are you using a USB to Serial Adapter or are you direct to Serial?

They haven't actually stopped support yet. Their official end of support date is Dec 31 2014. AEM Ending Technical Support for AEMPro Software and Repairs for Series 1 Programmable EMS Effective 12/31/2014 | AEM

I have always connected via usb to serial, using a recommended brand (prolific).

Like you said its the last owner is whom I would have to talk to. However, AEM repair should be able to make sure everything is jumpered properly and up to date with revisions.

If you have any other ideas before I send it to them let me know. Did you ever get a chance to look at my base map/log? where it was cutting off at 1600+rpms?
