1280s questions

looking at getting new ecu as iv used all my analogue 0-5v inputs ,so looking at going adaptronic this time around as theres a few things i like that they do differently then other ecus.

the ability to use serial is a great idea but i have a couple of questions about it.
now i have a innovate TC-4 amp laying round as unitl now never had a ecu that could interface with it and for previous ecus purchased 2 channel EGT amps,so i would be using this daisy channed off of a lc2 most probaly to keep the analogue inputs free.

normally most my inputs had been tied up with pressure and temp senders, now on the adaptronic youtube videos i watched the other night they used the innovate ssi-4 unit with fuel pressure and oil pressure etc and had the ecu fail safe setup,he makes mention of using the honeywell sensors.is this just a case of if using the ssi-4 to use those sensors?if i was just using the analogue inputs i could use any sensor and enter calibration?correct?

can the same fail safe actions take place with out using the ssi-4?it seems using the ssi-4 would be mainly used on the 440D etc?

i am in between this ecu and the link G4+ extreme, but i really like that adaptonic are using VE and also buy putting wideband and EGT on serial it leaves the most 0-5 v inputs free between the 2 ecus

also iv looked multiple times is there a 1280s user manual pdf anywhere?
cheers in advance,i had other questions but havnt had enough coffee yet to remember

Hi there, the 1280 is better thought of as an "ECU Platform" than an ECU. You can implement whatever control policy or behavior that you want using the advanced mode.

You're correct in assuming that the purpose of the SSI4 is to get more inputs available on the Select ECUs (420, 440 and the plug-ins) because they run out when you start wanting to add a bunch of sensors. So you can either add these sensors directly into the 1280, or use an SSI4.

The calibration is a bit tricky with the SSI4 because it goes through their calibration first and then to the ECU, so that's why on the Select ECUs we fix the calibration for the sensor that we recommend. Also after years and years of supporting people calibrating MAP sensors, a lot of problems went away when we put the internal MAP sensor in the Select ECU so I don't really want to revisit that!

The calibration will be much easier if you put the pressure sensor into the ECU directly though. All you need is a 2D table, the first point is 50 on the X avis (for 0.5V) and 0 on the Y axis (for 0 PSI), and then the second point is 450 on the X axis (for 4.5V) and 150 on the Y axis (for 150 PSI) - if you want it in PSI that is. Going through the SSI4 it will be more complicated to work out so unless you've run out of inputs I'd recommend connecting the sensor directly to the ECU.

Yes, there is a user manual if you download and install SEKUKU but it's in Windows Help format rather than a PDF.

Thanks!
Andy

thanks for the clarification on that andy.
just buy putting a innovative wideband and a tc4 on serial im already saving 3 analogue inputs right off the bat which puts it ahead of others.

i set up a new ecu config to have a play around, have been on the adaptronic forums aswell and cant seem to find anyone with a 13b map for the 1280s.im just wanting to load it up in software and have a look at it.did you happen to have one?

p.s well done on a great product, people are getting great results with you ecus.iv been talking to a few people over here in NZ who are interested in what iv had to say about my research on adaptronic.

the selection of ecu is very much weighing towards the 1280s now.im pissed about the locked knock and 25 channel logging on the link.just out of principal i dont support software unlocks when i have already paid for the hardware

All software/firmware updates are completely free always have been, and always will be.

I will get you a E1280S 2 rotor file so you can look around.
