i sold the fd cause i needed a reliable car. the insurance was very high, and me being 18 doesn't help. the car was running alright, strong pull still, 103k miles it started flooding the last month i had it, and burning off coolant, so i traded it for a 96 eclipse gst. i couldnt take a chance that one day it might not start, or one day the engine might pop.
but now i have my eclipse so and am an insurance agent with AAA. so im in the market for a new one in a few months when i pay off some debt.

Id take an FD with a blown engine any day over an eclipse...
i sure hope you got a lot of cash with that deal, otherwise you got your *** ripped on that deal.... 96 gst eclipses go for like 5k tops...and thats in superb condition...
Yea... my car too~~ I have been ripping it apart for a while... ehhehe
I do recomend to have a second car just in case things like these happens...
Get two cars!!~~~ if you can afford it though... and being 18 doesn't help either..
^No ****, I have yet to see any thing decent for under 18k, this guy must be looking at the rhd FDs, you can't even get a decent FC for under 10k out west.

yes i only had one car, and it started flooding on me, so i knew it wasnt gonna last long. i had to get to work. yes i realize i ate 5k on the car. but better that than eating like 20k loosing a good job. so im happy i got rid of it, but now that i have the eclipse. i can buy another fd, and have it for a project car instead of a daily driver.
last time i was looking for an fd in cali, around aug. 06 you could buy a decent one for like 13k, now you cant touch one for under 14k
yah well after towing the car to a dealership cus it flooded one morning i had to go to work, the deal didn't sound that bad. and ive had no probs with the eclipse yet, cross fingers till i get a bike or the fd. so the dealership traded a non running fd, for the eclipse, i lost my ***, but its together now so yah.
96 eclipse: $8,900 sticker price
traded fd: $8,900 for eclipse
price of rebuild for dealer: $4000
sticker price of rebuilt rx7: 16,999
learning i screwed up and never doing it again: priceless.

the funny thing is, a 96 eclipse doesnt cost anywhere near 8900 dollars.... thats just the initial price that the dealer gives out so that when you buy the car for 5000 from them you think that you talked them down 3900 dollars and got a good deal, when in reality they probably picked the car up at an auction for like 2500....
Way to let yourself get screwed over...all you managed to do is let them turn 2500 + 4000 for the rebuild on the engine into almost 17000 dollars... which they will probably get because some people are retarded when going into car dealerships...

Wow I would love to live where you live because out here in california a GST in a poor condition will go for 5K+ and GSXs hover close to 10K if they are in good condition.
seriously, bro in socal you can touch a decent forced induction car for under 6k, no matter what it is, even 89 240's with an sr20det.
my eclipse may not have been 8900 but it sure wasn't 2500, because i can turn around and sell it to anyone on the street for 5-6k.
and i dont think any of you understood the position i was in, who is gonna trade some guy a working car, for an rx7 that doesn't run??????? any takers. trust me, i advertised the s**t out of my car on here, know one would even come up with $9k. and this rx7 was mint cept for the miles. almost completely stock.

And Being 16 doesnt help either lol. One year, but almost done
FCs have gone up too. I just got $3,700 for a fair condition NA. FDs can still be foudn for under $16k in good condition, but they are not numerous and often in areas of the country far from you.
