Where do I go from here?
I've kinda put the car project on the shelf for a while, but I'm ready to get back to it. I've got a bit more removal to do before I can start reassembly. I need to get to my OMP lines, and want to send my injectors away for cleaning, I'm also going to replace all my vac lines and fix some nipples. I never thought I would get so frustrated playing with nipples.
Anyway, do I have to take off the rest of the intake manifold to get the rats nest off, or is there a way to get some of the stuff out of the way with less removal. I think it was Magik a while back that said all I had left was the fuel rail. . . where are the bolts to just get the rail off???
Here are a couple pics of where I'm at.

You don't need to remove the LIM to get the rat's nest off, which is a damn good thing b/c in order to remove the LIM you need to remove the turbos and manifold, not something you want to mess with.
The secondary fuel rail bolts into the lim with 2 bolts, one on each end. You'll probably have to remove the rat's nest to get at it.
One tip----if you're careful, you can use one of those long thin bbq lighters to heat up the old rock solid vacuum hoses, then quickly pull it off the nipple. The heat will soften the hose for about 5 seconds, enough to pull it off. Just don't cook your solenoids.
To get to your primary injs and oil metering lines, you'll need to basically get down to the top of the block. I recommend s/s mop lines from gotham racing, as well as a new fuel pulsation dampener from mazda while you're in there.
Looking at those pics makes me even more happy that I have a single turbo setup with all emissions removed. What a friggin' nightmare.
I hope some of this helped you, best of luck to ya!
Edit: looking again at your pics, I also recommend all new coolant hoses and intake gaskets as well, swap out everything you can with new oem or better aftermarket stuff while you're in there.

Thanks for the advice, especially the lighter. . .that will really help. I've already got the S/S lines from gotham, looking forward to getting them in there. I've got new coolant hoses that will go to a new Koyo, but not the other, smaller coolant lines. I do plan on changing as many hoses as possible.
Are new fuel lines available anywhere to cut to fit, or do I have to order them?
If I get too frustrated in a couple months, I'm just boxing it all up and towing it down to Cam at Pettit to let them put it all back together for me. Hope it doesn't come to that!

The next step is going to be to unbolt the ACV from the LIM (man I haven't seen one of those for a while!).
Unbolt the solenoid rack from the block, it should be held on with 3 bolts, one of which has a ground wire.
Once you have those two done, you can shift the rack over towards the drivers side of the engine "a little" and expose the bolts needed to remove the fuel rails.

You can get all of the smaller coolant hoses/intake gaskets/fpd from ray at malloy mazda, 888 533 3400.
Also, if you're going to be messing with the rack while it's still on the block, I wouldnt recommend the lighter method. Only do that if the rack is far away from your fuel lines, wiring harness etc .
